  2. Oh boots-Mayking..If they are boots, because the Maggot brain was run 13 years after the release.. Im asking..not telling , my knowledge is pretty limited but many thanks for the info on the Gospel Travellers, I bought it home!
  3. Thanks to all for taking the time to answer, appreciated! Re the Mayking, great info, I'm trying to find out a bit more about him, the records have Ted's Retirement Fund written on the sleeves..so they are boots rather than demos, I'll give seller heads-up. Cheers Sean
  4. Thanks Simon, wee bit of work done on that if so!
  5. It is interesting. I wonder who (s)he'll dig up, the cynical side of me says this will be another hatchet job/piss take attempted nail in the coffin like Mr Flouncy and his moves on that dance show a few years back. The non cynical side of me says this will open up the world of Northern soul to an expantant new aud.... Anyone know who's in it?

  7. Naps. Though I did wake up one night to an insane Irish woman ranting at me about nodding off.
  8. Top ticket on this, lovely track, but has it been booted, is it a boot? HSS 107 V in the DW L.Nix Ardent.raised bevel, looks a bit new....price £100 Update....from the collection of Ted, who had some involvement flogging records to Malcolm McLaren and the Pistols at SEX on King's Rd.and had a recording studio. He's selling up and has half a ton of test pressings which I saw in the shop today, including a TP of Maggot Brain with all the spiel. (Mayking Records) There's two versions of this one with a different flip. Erring on the side of caution thanks Seanio
  9. Just listening to this, decent enough on its own right, what's the sample, it threw me into something much older. Is it Monica? https://youtu.be/bbqVg_23otg
  10. Hello my go to shop is Spin-It vinyl in Hull they seem a lot cheaper than some of the replies-Im sure 20 for a fiver or summat like that-I find they fit like a glove-than in the noble replies last time I looked, and he posts records, either get in touch yourself, Spin It Hull, Steves a nice guy to deal with, he's very sociable. Obv things might have gone up over the winter. He has a great selection of soul albums and 12s as well. USe the phone number hes slower on the page. spinithull@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/spinithull
  11. Just some fun sets, before mixcloud becomes too bitter in the mouth, variety of stuff-I do intend to stick to one subsection but I tend to wander!!! Feel free to throw bad fruit at will... So old soul, funk, new soul new releases and some headscratchers, just soulful... first track on this hm...anyhoo, theres a few.
  12. Are they on here, are they allowed, many thanks SMD
  13. Maybe a risk from online orders surely, 12 days has been average for a record recently, just sit back and wait. However (inland) I sent three hefty volumes on the Great War, second class, and wrote on the back of the package 'We support the postal strike and workers rights', and it turned up the very next day! So I did it again and it worked again!
  14. Its the Spotify lists, amazing how varied some peoples tastes are, unless in places like Tesco, where I've heard Terry Callier, its marketing aimed at the over 50s which a bulk of us are, who are especially in these times, wealthier.
  15. Trying to freight a heap of records. Do you have to pay them extra to pick up the boxes (private address) I paid for the labels and shipping so that should be it right? They now want me to generate a pick up? Is this just for a timed pick up? Cant get a straaight answer out of them Im sure a few people in the group must have had the experience.
  16. Lovely lass and dances well, she is a great performer, good singer too.
  17. No house for sale, just to clarify I rent it, and the records won't be sold in individual lots, straight to a standard auction house I'm afraid.About 5000 so won't be selling in dribs and drabs as I wouldn't have the time. Hi all Generally as it's records were here for it's more about how to dispose of records or whether it's worth storing them for six months I hear a lot of people selling up and it's a big haul so I would be getting rid in one go, haven't made up my mind yet ...storage seems quite excessive.
  18. Had enough need to fly off for a while.. Question is do I sell up? Do I put into storage? I'm edging toward common or garden auction, storage seems a pretty high price to pay. Too many to do individual sales. Ideas?

Reading like a guest list of a dinner party of the world's most loved and esteemed personages in soul music industry, the Guardian talks vaguely about 'the boss' butchering an unquestionably loved and extensively played record. This should pack em in at some venues. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/nov/19/bruce-springsteen-cover-reignites-row-over-lost-northern-soul-classic
