How about Glass House " I don't see me in your eyes anymore " , the Ty Hunter release goes for £50 - £75 , this is exactly the same recording , there's one on Gemm now for $16 , flip of Thanks I needed that , on Invictus .This is a great crossover style dancer similar to Bobby Reed on Bell .Best ,Eddie

  9. Big thanks to the good folk at Ace / Kent for the new CD compiling material from Larry Banks , the famed New York arranger , obviously the big selling point will be the inclusion of the brilliant Milton Bennett " Whats one more lie " , but there's so much more, like the stunning big city ballads , in particular the 3 from Kenny Carter " You better get hip girl " [ a great song , transformed from a tambourine rattling Pied Piper production as recorded by Freddy Butler , into an awsome big voiced beater , " I can't stop laughing " which sounds like it was cut at the same session as " Showdown " , and lastly " Lights out " a wonderful version of the Zerban Hicks classic ender .Also great is the future Northern classic , " My life is no better " by The Dynamics , the fantastic beat ballad " Living in the land of heartache " by The Cavaliers , which is very Kenny Carter in style , the great stripped down outtake of Jaibi's " You got me " plus the flip side of that particular ' 45 " What good am I " .Highly recommended , Dave Godin would have been very proud .Best ,Eddie
  10. I love this too Rich , though I actually bought it by mistake at Wigan thinking it was The Prophets " I got the fever " !!, great slow flip as well " Leaving me " .Best ,Eddie
  11. I remember reading in an old copy of Hot buttered soul magazine , that a lot of the red re - issues were imported to Holland etc , because of the following for the more down tempo flip .Best ,Eddie
  12. Doesn't seem 3 years since Dave died , first met him in 1974 when he was working for Black Music , spent the day in London with him , took me and a few mates to the Black music offices , Black Wax record shop and Blues and Soul record shop .Next time I corresponded with him was when he did an imaginary tape for Mojo magazine during the 90's featuring some his all time Deep Soul faves .I cheekily wrote to him and asked if he could actually record the tape for me , which he did by return of post , what a great guy !! He was the main man in the early days with his tips on old Soul and new releases , doubt if we will ever see his like again .Best ,Eddie
  13. Yes ,I bought one off the bowl , think it was £6 ? Best ,Eddie

  16. Except that Rob would probably make a better football manager !! Best ,Eddie
  17. Hello Chris , virtually every track on Eleanore Mills is great , for Northern appeal I'd go for " Fascinating devastating man " , " Telegram " is a killer slowie , " How can I love you " great stepper .I paid £50 for mine about 10 years ago .The key track on Bettye Crutcher is " Up for a let down " which I love to bits ,Willie Hutch is a fantastic album , love virtually every track £25? " Trying to understand a woman " is fantastic .The Moments is a strange one , does it have the wonderful " Just having your love " on it ? As some copies don't .Hope this helps a bit ,Best ,Eddie,
  18. When I first heard this at Coalville nighter in the 70's , DJ Neil Rushton played it off a 10" acetate , I think he imported them too , might be worth asking him ? Best ,Eddie
  19. Thanks for that Malc , I guess being quite small would have helped create an unbelievable atmosphere at the venue , did the balcony go round most of the building ? On another note , although the Casino was a huge building , I always thought that the dancefloor didn't look that big when the venue was empty ,but took on another dimension when it was packed to the rafters .Best ,Eddie
  20. Great pictures , got to say , not having been to the Torch , must say how small it looks inside ? Best Wishes ,Eddie
  21. Yes , that's where I saw them .Best ,Eddie
  22. Thanks for everyone's feedback , just remembered that I heard a Ric Tic /Golden World CD last year , not only was the quality very good , some of the mixes were different from the released sides , interesting eh ? Best ,Eddie
  23. The Exportations " I want you " , Otis Clay " The only way is up " , Debbie Taylor " Just don't pay " [ though I bought it for the deep flip " I don't wanna lose you " ], and several others from the 70's and 80's , usually off Soul Bowl if an import and Pete Widd at Wigan if it was a new UK release .Best ,Eddie
  24. Steve Davis has [ or had ] POT 1 ,saw it outside Thorne one night !! Best ,Eddie
  25. Has anyone on here got any thoughts on the new Ric Tic / Golden World CD's that have been released ? Are they the real deal as I thought Universal /Motown owned these labels ? There's also a Sue compilation which seems to have come soon after the Ace /Kent releases .Has anyone bought them , what's the quality like ? Best ,Eddie
