  1. Hi Ady , like the previous poster , I remember the article from the mid 70's , in Frank Elson's column in B & S , where he listed a chart from Ian Levine which was made up of downtempo records .Dan Folger was amongst that bunch of '45's . I made a mental note of it and pulled 2 white demos out of Golden Oldies in Seattle in the summer of 1980, a week after Tim and Nogger from Stoke had visited the store .....Best,Eddie
  2. Hi Kev , was talking to Julian Bentley today about The Shalimars and all the other Verve /MGM stuff , most of it was Bradford market I think , loads of 'em ......Best,Eddie

  11. Who discovered Frankie Beverly " Because of my heart " ? I remember one Wigan oldies night ,Mick Smith lent Searling his cracked Rouser copy to play , I was stood deck watching at the time .Sure Mick mentioned that it had been played at The Torch ? I got a copy on Fairmount for £25 in the early 80's off Dave Raistrick , how many did you have Dave ? Questions Questions LOL.....Best,Eddie
  12. Rob Moss found the first Moments on Hogg , still got the letter from him saying" guess what I've found It's not The Fabulous Impacts "...Rob also discovered the first Kell Osbourne " Quicksand " , taped 3/4 of it on the end of a tape " what do you think of this - think it would go ? " .Remember taking the tape to Stafford and playing it to Butch and Dave Thorley , think Dave bought it in the end ? Think Rob had one of the first Wayne Anthony's " Blow me a kiss " [ Waylana ] Sold it to Guy who played the flip " Go Go Wedding " instead ...Thought of covering up the top side as Carolyn Crawford as Wayne sounded a little female with his young vocals ...Best,Eddie

  20. I'm so sad at this news , I've only known Alan and his Wife Judi for a few years , but in that time have been proud to have known them for their love and warmth towards each other and everyone around them . Alan for his love and dedication towards anything Soulful , Judi for her strength in helping Alan as he hasn't been a well man for years .This is absolutely devastating news, RIP Alan and love to Judi and the family xx Eddie ...
  21. You 're not going mad , I remember that picture as well , though I seem to remember Richard was holding it .If I can be bothered to go up in the freezing cold loft I'll dig it out and post it up .Best wishes ,Eddie
  22. Well I intend to keep attending venues until I'm at least 65 , so that gives me at least another 12 ' ish years .There's a few people younger than me still going, so that should extend the scene for a few years more .I think long term it depends on our offsprings taking up the mantle and embracing the scene , and using Mum or Dad's vinyl no doubt , if we haven't sickened them enough already LOL... I think the scene at the moment newies wise is pretty good , at least there are some venues like USOS , 100 Club , Burnley , Move On ,Lifeline ,Dundee etc that are trying to play something different , ok the attendances aren't always earth shattering but at least some people still care about the original ethos of the scene , to travel crazy distances , meet like minded people and hear records you can't hear anywhere else .Anyway ,would the last person to leave the scene please turn the lights out ....Best wishes ,Eddie
