  1. I heard a theory a while back that the follow - up's to some of our faves , that ultimately didn't get released , were sometimes better songs than the released sides so the company [RCA / Motown etc ] had an even better record to follow up with if the first record was a hit , which they weren't of course .I think this is why many of the RCA collectable sides are rare on Black issue , as they were demo'd in quantity and if they didn't get the thumbs up from the radio DJ's or the listening public , then very few stock copies were produced .Best,Eddie

  4. Remember buying my copy of this album from a record shop in Oxford at the time , think it was at a budget price as well , if you've got this set then you'll probably agree with me that the sleevenotes are amazing and sell the album to the buyer almost as much as the music within the grooves .....Best,Eddie
  5. Really sad news , her " Wounded Woman " set is one of the finest albums of all time , rest in peace Sandra .....Eddie

  17. I voted " awesome " remember getting this on tape via Rob and Chris Marriott during the Stafford era , legendary super rare side then , and still very hard to get now .The flip is brilliant and probably the even better side .Sure it's messy , but then lots of our fave records are , it's Rare Soul ain't it ? 19. Pete ,I've got a Black Music mag. from about '74 , with Ian Levine raving over both Baby don't you weep and I'm gonna love you , so wouldn't be suprised if it was Levine first again ....Best,Eddie
  20. That's fine Kev , ironically Skip Jackson is now popular for the flip side as well .Lost count of the amount of times I could've bought Professionals from Wigan for 18 - 20 quid .Remember Rob Marriott paying £40 off Soul Bowl [ how we laughed at the time ... ] Wasn't until Richard started pushing it in the latter days of Wigan that it's stature grew .He always announced it as " This is Steve Mancha " [ probably because the flip is " Did my baby call " ] ....Best,Eddie
  21. Hi Kev ,I never said it was a failed Wigan spin , those tapes were home made from Gillys records that he brought round .Think Skip Jackson was a Mecca side wasn't it ? Best,Eddie
  22. Ha Ha , you're too kind Gilly ..Still got the tapes from those days , Skip Jackson , Fantastic Epics etc ...All the best ,Eddie

  24. Gilly , do you remember when you used to turn up at me and Elaine's and get me out of bed from my night shift LOL ...You always had some interesting records for me to tape and on this occasion you had Larry Wright from Popcorn and a Popcorn and The Mohawks Popcorn bag , given out at Cinemas in Detroit in the early 60's [ have you still got it ? ] Great memories of those days , even if I couldn't get back to sleep afterwards Ha Ha .....Best wishes ,Eddie
