  1. I loved the old scene , and I'm equally loving the new scene .It's way more diverse than ever before ,and there are venues and styles of music for everyone .Feel very lucky to still be able to enjoy , attend the venues and collect the music , who would have thought it after 40 odd years .Great uplifting post Matt .....
  2. The Lovelites would be near the top of my LP faves also .Some great albums mentioned on this thread , how about Chris Bartley - Sweetest thing this side of heaven [ Vando ] which is Van McCoy magic throughout , and also Clyde McPhatter " Welcome Home " on Decca , which has some beautiful tracks ....Eddie
  3. I always thought Keith was behind the Out Of The Past bootlegs , along with , allegedly Otis Leavill and Blues and Soul mag ? If I'm I'm wrong , then I'm happy to be enlightened , but that is what I was told ....
  4. Great info Robb .Think Timothy Wilson is Miss Ray's nephew ?
  5. Looks fabulous , thanks for sharing ...

  8. As a postman myself ,I would like to say that some of us do care over peoples packages , that particular package does look like it's been folded in half , which , knowing Pete's packaging , must have taken some doing .If an item will fit through a letter box , it will be posted , no matter how high the box , so I'd advise people to have it sent recorded or special delivery and packaged well,so a signature must be received , and if it isn't , report it .We aren't in control over customs charges or handling charges as a postman ,I agree it's a rip off , I've been charged myself on occasion , and it's bloody annoying .The new system means everyone now uses vans or trolleys , and when walking using a golf style trolley , many of use would prefer to use bikes again , it's all down to health and safety .Cheers Eddie
  9. It's weird , I have a New York acetate of Billy Clark " Too bad too sad " / " You'll never make it alone " .On the flipside it is credited to Clyde Wilson , maybe this is the same guy ? As far as I know his name isn't credited on the Gama release of the above record , it's always bugged me .....
  10. I'll probably drive myself mad trying to work out the connection of each track , if there is one !! See you Saturday .........
  11. Searling always used to play Jimmy Raye " Philly dog around the world " followed by Paul Sindab " Do what you wanna do " , always sounded great ....
  12. I'll be listening extra carefully on Saturday Nev ...
  13. Enjoyed that , especially The Twisted Wheel section , photos etc ......
  14. The original Mel Britt 45 has a slightly darker label , no white border and the run out groove stamp is in a different place to the bootleg .Sold mine in 1995 to the Frost brothers from Leicester , along with Bobby Kline and Kenny Wells .Seemed a good deal at the time , well the scene was dying wasn't it ..ouch ...
  15. Look forward to playing some records from my collection , hope some of you can join us ,best wishes Eddie
  16. I bought a Mel Britt original for £8 out of Black Echoes in the 80's , think it was from Neil Rushton ...
  17. I wish it was true , but no , that story is untrue .I had a London demo for many years ,which I won for £65 in auction from Tony Ellis in 1980 , but no issue copy .
  18. This is the Crack Steppin side , it's a vocal though ...
  19. Shocking news , I loved his radio show and his posts on here were always essential , informative reading .I never met him and always imagined him to be quite an elderly guy ,judging by his knowledge , sadly this wasn't the case .Rest in peace Bob , and thank you for your huge contribution to Soul music .....Eddie
  20. Probably not a coincidence , the record dealer was from Derby .......
  21. Bought Tony Hester - Watch Yourself [ Karate ] and Tobi Lark - Challenge My Love [ Topper ] for £3 each out of a box marked Northern Soul reissues at a record fair .Was so excited I left Sandra Phillips - World Without Sunshine issue behind ,also £3......
  22. Bought it blind at Wigan for about £5 , didn't really do it for me then ,and took ages to sell it .Wouldn't mind one back now however , it's perfect for today ...
