  17. I recall reading that Dave Godin and Chris Jackson had a row in the Soul City shop ,which resulted in the “ Since There’s No Doubt “ release being cancelled .Dave continued long into his life raving over the talents of Van McCoy and Chris Bartley ( even releasing “ I See Your Name on his Right On ! label ) I don’t think that would have happened if one of them had been a pseudonym for Jackson ?

  20. I got on well with Alan at Wigan ,always a warm hearted friendly person .His records all had A.R on the labels in felt pen .He sold me Debbie Dean on a WD VIP with those markings .He also DJ’d at The Oval Ball in York at the same time as Wigan .Not sure how true it is ,but I heard an interview with Chris King who said Alan asked him how much money he had on him ,and then said “ you’ve just bought my collection ,I’m off “ How true that is I’m not sure ,but Chris took over from Alan at Wigan .
  21. I thought the term was “ skimming “ not “ trimming “

  24. I had no idea they would be filming on the night ,though I feature in the dancing and walking across the dance floor with my Nighter bag and sheepskin .I remember the first record I heard that night was Danny Williams - Whose Little Girl Are You ,and also recall buying The Moods - Rainmaker on Wand .The footage was used in the film Soulboy ,I received a payment from the film for using the footage of me ,which was nice .The music was dubbed on afterwards ,Sidras Theme ,Rosemary and Judy Street are 3 I remember .It commercialised the scene for a while ,but ultimately greater days were to come musically from ‘79 onwards .
  25. Incredible film ,some brilliant bittersweet stories and wonderful records
