One of the most famous incidents must be the story of Dave McCadden[ RIP ] loaning Richard Searling's then one off copy of The Jades -I'm where it's at , to photo copy the label " Nite Life " for his new fanzine of the same name .He took it ,along with a pile of pressings to a chip shop , before heading for the bus home .He left the records in the chippy by mistake , and on realising his mistake , returned to the shop where the owner had put the records on top of a hot plate for " safety " .Guess which record was on the bottom , yes The Jades ,which with the heat wasn't broken ,but had grown to twice it's size !! I would have hated to be in his shoes ,explaining to Searling what had happened ....

I first heard "" Game Players "when Richard spun it off the LP during the early session at Wigan. J Blackfoot was Stafford, eh Dave....

I heard The Moments first ,off the Sharp LP ,I know Colin played it at The Mecca too.Not sure if it ever made a 45? Richard was also playing "Somehow you make me feel " and "Time will tell " off The Eddie Holman LP .This could be a night was played off the 12" and LP to begin with ,with the great long intro.....

Yes readily available as I recall Peter. If you knew where to buy the new releases and were quick off the mark then it paid dividends. Pep and John Manship plus Soul Bowl were good for the new releases, and I found Graham Warr was excellent in the 70's.....

that was rare to begin with ,Richard even trading his copy and ZZ and co for Damon Fox and Bobby Jason cover up with Soul Sam .The stock appeared later.....

Such a legend of our music, very sad news, may he rest in peace....
