  1. the first press is pink vinyl but might cost you more than $50... order then goes white, green, yellow i think i have a white M- copy i might sell if you have no luck with the ebay one...
  2. there's no fee if you have sufficient funds to cover the whole amount
  3. acetates/dubplates are an aluminium disc with one or two sides of cellulose laquer coating, not shellac.
  4. can be quite bad - at worst the label can go over the grooves - i have one 45 where the final couple of revolutions won't play because of this. even when it's not that off-centre, the label can go over the run-out grooves, so you have to be quick stopping the record before the needle skates about across the label.
  5. the first release on Doctor Bird is Joe White 'Every Night' / Baba Brooks - '1st Session' ?? the tracks on this 45 are 'You Got to Go' / 'So Bad', which don't seem to be on a UK release (although there are a few small gaps in the Doctor Bird discogs i've seen)
  6. don't think so...? https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=willie+jones+money
  7. found the 45... in case anyone interested, the full details are: A-side: GAY FEET - S-50 - Joe White / Baba Brooks and His Recording Band - You Got To Go (FSP 6994) B-side: GAY FEET - S-51 - Joe White / Baba Brooks and His Recording Band - So Bad (FSP 6995)
  8. saw that listing - the label on mine only says Joe White on both sides, no mention of Chuck
  9. mine was $25 or something from a US seller. think i only found it from the sound clip, then coincidentally heard DJ Cello play it at Coast to Coast a day or two after winning it. seems quite rare though
  10. i've got this on a JA 45 - it's Joe White - "You Got To Go" on Gay Feet. i put it on a swap CD back in 2006 for the modculture board so some people on here will have heard it... thought i'd put it on Refosoul, but can't see it and the labels are reversed on my copy, but that's the correct title
  11. of course, the real 'original' is the CD EP which came out two years earlier than the red label 45...
  12. some sellers won't budge, but pointing out (correctly!) that a parcel with a high value on it is possibly more likely to go 'missing' in transit than one stating $5 often persuades helpful amateur Ebay sellers to write a low value on the form. Moerer puts $4 on everything and he must send 1000s of parcels out. and the idea of 'value' is a bit spurious - the value of a 50 year old 45 is nothing to everyone except DJs and collectors - we've just paid a large amount to outbid other collectors really, the 45 is still technically worth nothing, unlike a new DVD or electronic gadget etc, which has an established market 'sale' value.
  13. also gets people talking about it and gets more potential buyers to see it - would there be this thread if it was listed at $100?
  14. the Gloria Irving / Betty Everett 45 on 'Charm' is not one of this batch of boots btw, it's a licensed reissue https://www.discogs.com/label/Jukebox+Jam+Series but you're right about there being loads of R&B/doo wop boots in the past, it's just that a lot of the stuff being played at mod and soul-scene R&B events (as opposed to 50s rocking ones) hadn't really been touched until now
  15. the Ikea Trissa boxes: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40105632 4.99 now
  16. no. you can add some ground up vinyl to the mix, but not use it entirely. and the higher the percentage of non-virgin vinyl, the higher the surface noise (one of the many reasons why many 45s will never sound Mint)
  17. what does it go for? it used to be a cheapie, bought mine years ago for $10 or something for the nice funk instro on the flip (i really dislike the Your Love... side)
  18. this is a fun early one by him, a bit different to his later material: The Gee Cees - Buzz Saw Twist (Crest)
  19. blimey! good point on the cheap ones, had forgotten them with the talk of Charles Sheffield etc - yes, some strange stuff has been done... e.g. that Albert Washington is a nice one, but until recently Moerer had a boxful fairly cheap... also some stuff done on the 2nd label, like the Harold Burrage, or the Elmore James 'Cry For Me' from a few months ago all boots btw (thought i'd said that?) also a couple of the titles have scuppered plans for legit reissues
  20. really, in the flesh they're pretty easy to tell apart. they're European pressed and have flat labels, no dip around the centre, paper label usually doesn't quite reach the edge of the raised area, etc. besides just the paper and print quality. online of course, have to be careful, but that goes without saying for expensive records, surely? as for the profit - well the guy making them isn't selling them at 6 quid, he'll get about 3 quid from the shops and dealers.
  21. yes, but who determines what is 'crap'? half the records talked about on this site are total crap IMO, but i'd never even consider throwing them away. and Lars Bulnheim sounds like an idiot
  22. why surprising? i imagine it's been played a fair few times at mod or R&B nights.
  23. my favourite version, and luckily the one i got on ebay (for 3 quid or something) back when i didn't know there were other versions. aha, thread about them with clips:
