  1. there were lots of copies a year or two ago of the issue with the instrumental, which was Jungle Time (the good side IMO!) mislabelled (on the instrumental side).

  3. but the songwriting credits on the Lolo 45 says Ervaella Tate? also to confuse things, there's a Kim Tolliver who recorded a 45 as Big Ella on 'Superheavy'
  4. no-one's claiming you're a scam artist, just (for whatever reason) someone who isn't using proper 45 mailing boxes. just stop acting hurt and get over to bagsunlimited.com or somewhere...
  5. err, that's not 'Gotta Right To Cry' that you've posted...?
  6. on a vaguely similar topic, a lot of 45s from unsold stock finds seem to have something oily all over them. they feel greasy and are unplayable sound-wise - but after a bath and an introduction to Mr Paintbrush they're fine - it all washes off. what is this stuff - chemicals coming out of the vinyl, or oil or something from their surroundings where they've been stored?
  7. err, that wasn't me...? i just asked you the other day about the Bobby Reno and the Big Amos...
  8. sent you email - i thought that you were holding some of these for individual sales, but now you're listing as a lot again... ?
  9. Looking Out My Window has been 'known' for years in the funk scene (if such a thing exists!). it was on one of those 'breaks' compilations years ago, i think one of the Ultimate Breaks and Beats series in the early 90s. similarly 'The Lonely One' has been known amongst easy listening types (like me) since the late 90s. there's other good tracks on LPs too - including a live 'Hard to Handle', '13 Smash Hits' (not a comp despite title) is half full of good attempts at soul numbers, and Dr John's 'Right Place, Wrong Time'...
  10. just been having a look at the cookies set by the site and it seems that the 'remember me' button is not working - the expiry time of the cookies set is only an hour ahead, so it won't keep anyone logged in after that time...
  11. really like this one played it out on Easter Sunday which i think was appropriate...
  12. yeah, i liked this one as well (including the guitar and sax!). here's a better recording of it: https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Bobby_McClu...True_To_You.ram (well it sounded much better on my computer than the other)
  13. anyone got a spare? been after this for a while, but missed the last one on Ebay a while back and not seen it at all since... edit - maybe my search is buggered, there's a Moerer copy there now, but as usual priced to stay put for months...
  14. the Jessie Mae's awesome. got mine cheap a year or two ago, and just saw Manship had one for 150 the other day... has had plays at the Mousetrap and Shake! nights (and Le Beat Bespoke, although that was by me ), (and by DJ Wheeliebag at the Pillars of Hercules ) mine and the other copies i've seen are on DRA label though...?
  15. Otis Clay - I Testify is great IMO and very cheap, had it a couple of years now and never heard anyone else play it... same goes for the Ad-Libs, but i much prefer the flip, 'Ask Anybody' - but probably not to many people's tastes here...
  16. 1 and 2 are painfully bad... does anywhere actually play stuff like that? always wondered that since i heard a similarly awful Ian Levine re-make of 'It Hurts on the Other Side'...
  17. there's a full clip on https://www.soulclub.org/
  18. it's from 1966. 1951 is the catalogue number... nice track, thanks to Ken for posting it up...
  19. Mr Finewine posted this on the funk45 board a short while ago: mosquitos was a pittsburgh boot to capitalize on the local popularity of the corchado record, which was being played as a cover-up, i believe. i've never figured out the exact details. why would you reissue your cover-up? or maybe someone else reissued it but "respected" its cover-up status? regardless, they do seem to have had cover-ups in pittsburgh "and a HUGE, competitive dj scene "40 years ago, believe it or not. on this thread: https://www.fryer-mantis.co.uk/modules.php?...iewtopic&t=5091
  20. you probably want to turn the WAV files into MP3s - they're taking ages to download and you could end up going over your hosting bandwidth...
  21. written by Eugene McDaniels, Roberta Flack is the 1st version i think, hers is a vocal (on the First Take LP i think - nice LP), Eddie Harris and Les McCann is a live vocal version, not sure which of them is singing though! got a few more versions besides the Mr Flood's Party, but would have to look them up
  22. ok, maybe 'massive' was a bit OTT, i immediately regretted typing that and ended up causing a fuss, was just pointing out it wasn't an obscure track to cover... you're buying from the wrong dealers? https://search-completed.ebay.co.uk/swiss-m...gZ1QQsofocusZso
  23. i think both single and LP were million sellers - is that enough?
  24. the Les McCann/Eddie Harris cover of 'Compared To What' was a massive hit in the US, the earlier Roberta Flack version was probably pretty well known too...
