  1. Brilliant - just preordered the 7". Dx
  2. Badgers are wonderful animals - we used to have them visiting our patio every night when we lived near Tebay (the old Gatehouse you visited). Peanuts and Raisens - they're crazy about them. Dx
  3. I had an EMIdisc of the Sweet Talkin Guy instrumental from Wigan with ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL writing to this that was 100% dodgy so you can't extrapolate ANYTHING from that comment. Dx
  4. You'll find gratinated leeks a very good bait there. Dx
  5. Must admit it had an (unsuccessful) go at one of the Collared Doves that live on the patio yesterday. Dx If you see it again DON'T give it bread and milk as people traditionally did - milk is really bad for them. Tinned Cat/Dog food is best.
  6. Bids starting at £2k for a manky condition EMI disc of Chapter Five on eBay???? Someone obviously doesn't understand the difference between a proper Studio Acetate and a poxy carver you could get cut for a tenner from any old C90! Madness! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chapter-Five-You-Cant-Mean-It-Northern-Soul-CBS-Acetate-Totally-Unique/254726706761?hash=item3b4ee51649:g:vUsAAOSw1xtfKZdq
  7. It came back for a FIFTH bird - MUST be feeding chicks (to give you idea how late things are here I saw a Willow Warbler on the patio Tuesday!) ...Or there's a whole flock of the hairy little buggers hiding in the trees... You simply couldn't stuff that much Goldfinch into a single Sparrowhawk. Dx
  8. Just seen our sparrowhawk take it's FORTH goldfinch of the day from our feeders (which are caged so there's always a tug of war getting its prey through the bars) - it had three yesterday that I saw. I reckon it's either: A] Gonna be fat as a pig shortly, or B] More than one, or C] Got kids to feed Dx
  9. Sunset tonight on the Solway on the four month anniversary of Pete passing away.
  10. I think for all of us our best years were when we were 18-25 (though for me probably also 30-40 thanks to Pete - though that was a mad time) when we were starry eyed and full of youthful energy... It doesn't matter what period that covers; Wheel, Mecca and Torch, Mecca, Early Wigan, Late Wigan and Stafford, Morecambe, The 100 Club, Bradford Queens Hall; whatever, you'll have had your best days at that age - regardless of which clubs you were old enough to attend. Dx
  11. Don't forget that the Casino was a live venue in itself - The Stranglers played there a couple of times.
  12. Pete would've had a few things to say about this! 'Motown' never existed in Britain, TMG never recorded in Britain (unless there's some live stuff somewhere) - so there's no legitimacy to this at all - whilst it's nice to see the name alive, it's just a cynical cash in. ...A few years ago TMG was literally a phone on a desk with nobody even officially responsible for it... Until that 'evil' Mr King ruined everything for them by delivering an explosion in interest for all the unissued stuff they didn't even know they had. Dx
  13. Another great sunset tonight...
  14. Unfortunately - I'm just about emotionally ready to have a day salmon fishing but there's no water in the South Tyne - plus I've got a painter coming IF it rains. Dx
  15. A Tortoiseshell in the patio garden this afternoon - must do some gardening this week some time. Dx
  16. Sunset tonight at Pete & Dave's. Dx
  17. Mine was at Peterborough in about 85 - got a yellow Superlatives (very clean except for a patch of label damage from some idiot - not me! - trying to peel off a sticker without lighter fluid) more or less the same time for a fiver too. Dx
  18. Mad to think I paid 100th that for a mint original in the mid 80s though. Dx
  19. Not been there for a while (or anywhere because of Pete's health), but it'd be a crying shame to lose it. Dx
  20. Just a minor point of interest, but in this version it says 'Oh by the way do you have a RADIO' rather than 'bring a guitar'. Dx
  21. High Lorton - the cream house (Corner House) right on the corner of Tenter's Lane (the road up the hill towards Whinlatter that's now closed to cars). Dx
  22. We used to live down the valley from Buttermere at Lorton when me and Pete first moved up to Cumbria - Lorton vale is absolutely lovely. Dx
  23. Blood sucking shower of bastards : ) Dx
