  1. Wasnt the Spinners first Atlantic release "How could I let you get away"a beautiful ballad the a side, but was flipped for "I'll be around" which went on to be a million seller ?
  2. Hi Roburt that's interesting. How would John Schroeder make money from his work with Cymande? Did they have hit records in different countries? I didn't think they sold many records in England.
  3. That's the one. He has some great northern soul records, both American and UK which seem to be mostly excellent to mint condition. They seem to sell for a high price ,but it is a set sale not an auction. Been going for a long time so must be doing something right,
  4. Next time I looked....it was sold!! Did someone pay£1200 for it?
  5. I've found out this morning That Martha Reeves "I'll have to let him go " is rarer than Mike and the modifiers and the Valadiers. Never knew that.
  6. Ben E King. One of many incredible lead singers.
  7. Drifters. Some Kind of Wonderful, one of the first r&b records to use strings, which influenced so many other records of the 60s and 70s.
  8. Received Vols 3 and 4 today.Fantastic records I never dreamt I would ever own on vinyl. The quality of the sleeves are amazing would look great in a frame. Great service from Soul 4 real. Fast delivery well packaged too. Thank you Alex
  9. What about Chris King "love starved heart" Marvin Gaye .for his 40th birthday Unreleased in this country..
  10. Was a great watch really enjoyed it.......however there is a lot more information to be gleaned by reading Stuart Cosgroves book Memphis 68 The Tragedy Of Southern Soul. It goes a lot deeper into all the aspects of Stax.
  11. And you dont even have to have any records. Just turn on the television go on to you tube and you can listen to any northern soul record no matter how rare that you want to. (not just Northern soul either. Just a few years ago you would have to go to a friends house who actually owned the record or travel miles to an all nighter where hopefully the named DJ who had the record would play it. Internet has ruined the scene and will bring about the demise of record collecting.
  12. Would love a 45 of the contours version of"What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted "
  13. The complete set of Grapevine 45s seem very cheap. Would have been much better selling one at a time on Ebay.
  14. Love the Temptations,,Fantastic version...........but I must admit to preferring the Undisputed Truths take.
  15. It's the other side "Don't let it end " that does it for me . A fantastic proper Soul side!
  16. So interesting! When did the interview take place.
  17. Mad Lads for me fantastic double sided "Did my baby call/Let me repair your heart " Came in a soul pack from Contempo/Blues and Soul 10 for a pound probably 1973, Continued buying anything I could by them over the next few years. It's still a cheap record to buy today.
  18. Willie Mitchell London demo? Spinners Motown demo?
  19. This could become this decades "Elgin Marbles" Should we all post our records back to America? To ease our consciences.
  20. Went for almost £7000.........wow! Two great sides
  21. Watch out for the soul police! You could be arrested for dancing without a licence and be disqualified for 12 months.
  22. Mine arrived Saturday while I was out. Wife's hidden it away for Christmas and no amount of pleading will change her mind. Will be able to give feedback end of December.
  23. More Chicago Eugene Record and Barbara Acklin.
