I mentioned this to Curtis in 1983? when he played Hinckley ...we got backstage for autographs etc..gotta good half hour chewing the fat...he confirmed they did one and after prompting sang it to me...(damn didnt have a tape recorder)....he was very taken with my Abner demo of "senorita i love you " ....he said "thats a real collectors item you got there"......such a modest man for a genius.....
This might be of interest to Mod/Beat collectors.....Brazilian and released two years after UK....The "Somebody Help Me" side has a handclapping "lets go..lets go" intro which is new to me.....i e mailed a stevie winwood collector who suggested it could have been "spliced " on from another tune by those devious South Americans to make it more radio friendly ..any ideas?
I really like the Carl Smith penned "Your Love Has Changed" from the "Loves Happening" LP....I dont think it got a 45 release..its got an earlier Four Tops motowny feel to it....worth a spin at a venue mebbe......
You know what i mean.......you see a good 45 and you look and its minty.......and they are usually well played........whats your favs?......the premium on "still sealed" American Lps is well known......its that smell when you take the shrink wrap off (which you shouldnt of course......you should have a spare battered one).....happy days
Classic Stafford......an allnighter sound of quality........was it Guy who played this first..?....i snaffled mine soon after...i remember mint copies turned up at the time (85/86)........is Les-Stan a Texas label..?..Paul Kelly involvement...i suspect that the copies which turn up now are mostly out of collections.......unlike you to sell too cheap Tony.....
the orange label is similar to the design/layout /colour of the West Coast Dionn issue of Brenda + Tabs "Hey Boy"..which although retaining the orig delta matrix i was told was a 70ts reissue....like the orange Bill Lucas....
Hi Ady......unfortunately my ancient scanner is on the blink at the mo........(like me)........one sold for a bundle in 2007.on ebay...there is a scan of one side on Popsike.....the label is from Beachwood Ohio.......i can get both sides scanned by a mate if needed.......its a nice 45.....WATBITB....is fast funky with a nifty vocal group chorus.......SG is as i said the backing track to Wille Hatchers version of "good things come to those who wait" with an organ instr on top ......let me know
