  1. Janey......Ballads is a super double sider.. .with a great version of Tony Owens "Confessing the feeling" on B side...also on Music City.........its interesting that "Butterfli " is essentially the same tune(but a different version) as "i wish i knew" on Venture 637(flip of "the gift of love") recorded about 6 years earlier.....this is fab also.

  8. er sorry ......its Curtis Mayfield again..(he had a strange chord tuning..F sharp....which is why you struggle to copy his guitar licks if you dont know).......Billy Butler....who learnt his guitar style from CM....also..Gerald Sims.....super rhythm guitar ..
  9. posted Little Eddie Taylor on Peacock in Choice Cuts..great tune...
  10. an additional story re Parr Hall.....while in the record dealers section i noted Keith M. approach ..i think it was Pat Bradys sales section.....(two tables)...Keith was having trouble with his leg at the time and was on one crutch...as i remember it...Pat handed KM a few 45's ..and rather than multitask Keith put his crutch right across ..and on top of the lanes of Pats 45 s.....(much to PB's consternation)......this momentarily confused the assembled collectors searching through PB's boxes...who,after a brief moment of head scratching....continued to look at PB,s records through the various triangular slats of Keiths wooden crutch...happy days

Im Diabetic.......it runs in the family.......but i'm type 2......unlike my relatives who are type 1 (insulin injections) unfortunately ive got high chloresterol...which in combination is not good news....(also hypertension etc etc)....i smoke too much and drink too much.....i never thought id reach 55 ......but i have...ive been persuaded by concerned fellow soulies to make a will as theres certain 45 s they would like me to leave them and i dont look too well at times.....me and Dave Alcock used to laff and say they couldnt make a good one out of the pair of us......
  19. Daft story this......when Pep started up the Midland Soul Club i attended one of the venues and signed the membership application "Bobby Paris" (scamp that i was)........i accordingly got a flyer a few weeks later addressed to "Paris B".......Pep must have twigged this subsequently and said to his missus "thats not Bobby Paris...its Jim from stoke"...so when i got my membership card it said "Jim Paris"....happy days..(evidence submitted)
