Shake a Lady - brothers and sisters - capitol 14776 refosoul as requested........ ive always wondered who the Brothers and Sisters were.....the tune to my ears has a "Detroity" feel to it....(like the Buena Vistas on BB/Marquee)....i know Richard Pegue had a group called Brothers and Sisters .....but if he was involved it would surely have his name plastered all over it....?

heres the Brothers and Sisters version which is on Capitol so i can post it in this thread.....the Ray Bryant on US Sue isnt where it should be......neither is his version of Pata Pata on Cadet....i must have been having a jazzy session and they got misfiled..... :angry:

i suspected that might be the case......but ive seen an issue with a different b side......further investigation reveals its on the 67 issue....rater than the 66 first....worth knowing if buying "blind"

is it the dj or the issue which has "comparatively speaking " on the other side......good tune as i recall.....

ive always like this tune.....i like the Ray Bryant version (the original?) and the Brothers and Sisters version......its one of those tunes that i buy versions of .....others are "more today than yesterday" .....and "listen here".....too much time on your hands Bates......

there was a very small proportion of Black punters at commercial Soul do's in Stoke in the 70ts...(and more or less no Asians)...i DJed (not very well ) at the Place 73-74 ...Placemate 75-76.....Bowie/Roxy were very popular..also the 70ts pop stuff....Soul wise...Northern Soul was banned by the management....but i got a few in......Carstairs.....Mr Floods Party etc....the commercial Soul was Kool +Gang/Ohio players/Barry White/War/Chairmen/Chilites and the Motown artists ........i had a great time.....

this episode was very disappointing compared to the first........when Jazz Brittania/Folk Brittania aired....the interviewees were relevant.....major players in the genre.....whether performers/promoters etc.....this was cobbled together.....Stafford footage mixed with Wigan to make it seem the same...et al..(nice to see Duncan P dancing at TOTW tho ).......i can't see that Bowie has any relevance whatsoever......they could have interviewed Petes Waterman and Stringfellow for a view......no Billy Ocean /Heatwave.etc....a bit on Chris Hill would have been good......anything on weekenders ....i believe the "1000 people more annoying than Mick Hucknall" has been closed by the irony ignoring idiot himself....
