  1. A couple of recommendations: spincare.co.uk - rounded or square inner sleeves. They can be a tight fit but records easily slide in and out. I prefer the square sleeves because they are stiffened with a sheet of rice paper. For £3.95 you can purchase their Record Sleeves Sample Pack which consists of 14 different inner and outer sleeves. I used the inner paper sleeves until one crumpled and opened the seam, which is glued! After several hours I managed to remove the glue from the playing surface of an expensive record. For the poly-lined, brown cardboard sleeves, swanflight produce an oversized record box (200 size only). At £125.95 they aren't cheap but are built to flight case standards and available in different colours. I have noticed that the white cardboard sleeves also vary in thickness. I hope that the above is helpful.
A fantastic turnout for the final soul night of 2024 with friendly people travelling from near and far.
This first event was well attended, with the D.J.s playing a mixture of R'n'B, Northern Soul and some funky edge. Nice to listen to whilst drinking a few pints of Theakston's bitter As predicted, Clive did bring several sales boxes, so his family will be able to eat this week
  2. Looking forward to the final Northern Soul night of 2024.
  3. I'm also looking forward to Clive and Gerard's first Sunday soul session at the Mals, where the D.J.s can play some of the records that don't make the turntables at mainstream events and that isn't because they're not good enough! No doubt Clive will have several sales boxes for us to browse through.
  4. Thanks to you both for the info.
  5. I'm looking for a copy of Chuck Strong - 'I Got To Change My Way Of Living' (Aduwa). As near to M- as possible. Please PM me with price and condition.
  6. Counting down to Saturday, I'm really looking forward to it.
What a fantastic night! A great up for it crowd with dancers on the floor from the first few records (some of which were not Top 500 songs) and they didn't stop until midnight. A fantastic atmosphere that was at least equal to any venue that I've attended in the last few years (and there have been many). Well done to Pep for promoting it, I'm looking forward to the next one.
  7. Counting down to our Soulful, Summer Sensation. Those large fans are ready to cool down the sweating dancers.
  8. An avid soul and ska fan. Mel could even dance to 100 m.p.h. Northern Soul in her Doc Martens! Billy Joe Royal - 'Heart's Desire' and The Persionettes - 'Call On Me' were two of her many favourites. R.I.P. Mel xxx
  9. I'm looking forward to the first one of 2024
The doors opened just before 8pm. The dancing commenced at about 8.15 and from then onwards the floor was not empty until after Spanner played the last record at 1am. Many thanks to everyone that attended. I know that some of you travelled from afar and hope that it was worth the journey. Hopefully we'll see you next year.
  10. There's a lot of interest in our final one of the year. The September night was very busy, with regulars and plenty of new faces, some local and others from further afield. I've spoken to people who, for their first visit, will be travelling in their camper vans. Spanner has mentioned above about booking a space, but if you have booked and can't attend, please cancel your space.
Another packed night with local soul fans and many from much further afield. The camper vans were out in force. Hopefully see you on Saturday 18th November for the last one of the year.
  11. Our second night of the year in June was busy, with many soulies taking advantage of the camper van spaces. Let us not forget that on the 23rd September it will be the 50th anniversary of the first all-nighter at the Wigan Casino so expect some classic songs from that venue. Plus of course, the best of the rest.
  12. I've been to Trinity socially but not played there for a while so I'm looking forward to it. Along with the old favourites Dave and Gerard also play some good lesser known songs.
I'm very surprised that there hasn't yet been any reviews for this event (maybe everyone's catching up on their sleep). Both rooms were packed full of soul fans from every corner of the country and beyond. In the main room the D.J.s treated us to nine sweaty hours of Northern Soul oldies plus some rarer tunes. The floor was still at least two thirds full at 6am. I will mention just two things on the negative side: 1/ The long queue awaiting admission for several hours and 2/ The long wait at the bar But I hope that both can be addressed for future events. BTW neither of them spoiled my enjoyment at all.

A great afternoon for a good cause attended by people from far and wide: Whitchurch, Leek, Stoke, Cheddleton, Macclesfield and even a group of soul fans from Edinburgh!! This was their third event in three days. On the previous night/morning they were at the King's Hall All-Nighter! Those Scots are really hardcore . Well done to Melvin for organising everything. I reckon that he should try a regular Sunday session.
  14. A great night of 'Northern Soul' from start to finish. I really enjoyed it.
  15. A very good turnout on a warm night, although the giant fans did help to cool things down. Soul fans from all over the country and if you went outside for a breath of fresh air - wow what a view! Looking forward to the next one on Saturday 16th September.
  16. Looking for a copy of Larry & The Hippies - 'Soul Do It' Please PM me with price and condition
  17. Looking forward to a soulful, Saturday, Summer sizzler.
  18. There are several soul anniversaries in March: 1972 - The first all-nighter at The Torch 1973 - The Torch closed 1974 - The Top Rank in Hanley closed So there will certainly be some music from those venues plus of course the best of the rest
