This first event was well attended, with the D.J.s playing a mixture of R'n'B, Northern Soul and some funky edge.
Nice to listen to whilst drinking a few pints of Theakston's bitter
As predicted, Clive did bring several sales boxes, so his family will be able to eat this week
I'm also looking forward to Clive and Gerard's first Sunday soul session at the Mals, where the D.J.s can play some of the records that don't make the turntables at mainstream events and that isn't because they're not good enough!
No doubt Clive will have several sales boxes for us to browse through.
What a fantastic night!
A great up for it crowd with dancers on the floor from the first few records (some of which were not Top 500 songs) and they didn't stop until midnight.
A fantastic atmosphere that was at least equal to any venue that I've attended in the last few years (and there have been many).
Well done to Pep for promoting it, I'm looking forward to the next one.
An avid soul and ska fan.
Mel could even dance to 100 m.p.h. Northern Soul in her Doc Martens!
Billy Joe Royal - 'Heart's Desire' and The Persionettes - 'Call On Me' were two of her many favourites.
R.I.P. Mel xxx
The doors opened just before 8pm.
The dancing commenced at about 8.15 and from then onwards the floor was not empty until after Spanner played the last record at 1am.
Many thanks to everyone that attended. I know that some of you travelled from afar and hope that it was worth the journey.
Hopefully we'll see you next year.
There's a lot of interest in our final one of the year. The September night was very busy, with regulars and plenty of new faces, some local and others from further afield.
I've spoken to people who, for their first visit, will be travelling in their camper vans. Spanner has mentioned above about booking a space, but if you have booked and can't attend, please cancel your space.
Another packed night with local soul fans and many from much further afield. The camper vans were out in force.
Hopefully see you on Saturday 18th November for the last one of the year.
Our second night of the year in June was busy, with many soulies taking advantage of the camper van spaces.
Let us not forget that on the 23rd September it will be the 50th anniversary of the first all-nighter at the Wigan Casino so expect some classic songs from that venue. Plus of course, the best of the rest.
