  1. I love some really non black northern pop sounds to be honest, wouldnt dream of playing them out, there just grt pop tunes in ther own right. Others beverly anne being one example i detest with a passion.
  2. the best photo I've ver seen about the scene was guy, keb, adey and minshull at the back of the 100 done about 87, for some long forgotten trendy london only rag, wish i still had a copy.
  3. where's me eyeliner, and I've been looking @ getting a pair of those herman munster boots, with a the metal and crap on em.
  4. reading russells laudable comments I realised the answers brings you back the thorney chesnut of 'what is ns?' Great that you iniciated with the assursion that the oldies scene is in fact a splinter, but Russell asumes Northern soul has to be about 60's dance music, fair play, but I dont share that veiw, and if were talking about forever will it always have to be about the 6ts? or rather the very principle of rejecting the mainstream fodder and searching through the past, to uncover the forgotton, emotive, dance music of another generation?
  5. never heard of anything on there apart from neo experince, got to be worth futher investigation
  6. https://youtu.be/fAMxJlWYpx4 forget frank wilson, this is the best unreleased mt ever, well at least a serious contender

  10. thanks for the clarifaction, not sure I'd agree with all your definitions and whats wrong with novelty anyway? that just mean they had a gimmick to help sell there pop records, a bit like, 'cool off' ;philly dog around the world 'the duck' ronnie and robyn and a host of other credible ns tunes.
  11. fair enough, there were a bunch of bands in the late 6ts doing that rock soul fusion anyway.
  12. methinks thou dust talk shite my freind, imho of course. never heard of brown eyed soul?
  13. east coast yeah, manifesto I love but its black rock isnt it? even though they might actually be white, lol.
  14. watching this now, its proper shite, bbc4 has gone downhill imho, recently. its all so past tense, 3 middle age white guys talking, in the main prog rock. DB thinks focus and scorpions are obscure! f'gods teeth! very self indulgent, but I'm still watching, wonder whats on itv 4?
  15. derek p did a discog and article on shades of soul eons ago and i seem to remember him mentioning somethingabout pressing variations in there.

  18. if you've got any spare pasties send em to me, I'll pay the post!
  19. that reminds me of the rare groove scene, now that was mainly a fashion scene. I remember asking two guys I knew wearing paddington flares, ecky thump caps, cropped fur coats and lots of lucky bag rings, if they knew any rare groove tunes. They managed to name the Jackson sisters but beyond that they were stumped.
  20. music was never there strength though, they were far more to do with performance and rock theatre really.
  21. I've always said, 'land downunder'- by men at work. just love the thought of all my mates and family, scratching there heads thinking, ' i didnt know he liked/ was interested in Australia. (im not) It would just throw everyone, and be the exact opposite of the kinda overblown pompous shite most people choose.
  22. I have around 10K, albums 12's and 45's and I play them every night, or virtually every night, still there's stuff I havent played for years though.
  23. It certainly dont cost them anymore to post worldwide, so I cant see any reason while it should mean there's less tunes for sale.
