  4. Maybe It's like watching car crashes, to quote Mr Lennon: ' I just had to laugh, I saw the photograph. '
  5. The thing that hit me about the scene at 18, my first nighter, was just how cool everyone was. even guys, and especially girls, that were decades older than me. Don't see that much anymore, just saying. .
  6. There tunes I paid, less than 40 for in the late 80"s. That were frequently for sale at nighters. Frankie Beverly, Larry aikins and valentinos. Rare?
  7. Good possibility the death of prince might have out her out of action for a while at least
  8. I was fortunate enough to get ' beautiful ones', prince book for Xmas. Can't believe I didn't know this voice before. One of the greatest of our time IMHO. Please enlighten me if there's any fans out there, cheers, geese
  9. I'd say that would probably disqualify it really. It may be literally the first, but not technically. There is a point to pressing a 12 inch single, to enhance sound quality.
  10. Fair point of view, it does beg the question, why the interest in the tread then?
  11. A great informative read, be interesting to see a UK guide.
  12. Think you hit the mail on the head here. It's the lack of central venues that causes the problem of tagging a record to a dj. There is just no cohesion anywhere on whats left of the scene. It just seems like lots of factions all pulling in different directions.
  13. Fantastic and very Worthy idea. Hope it does really well.
  14. Mace did a nice run of NS themed ones a while back. Might be worth contacting.
  15. The jack Ashford album should be of interest. The freemont street track is wonderful. Would love a copy of that.
  16. in fairness, yes its inferior, but its a better Jackie Wilson impersonation than you'd get out of most singers.
  17. Production is awesome on that, esp for a smallish label.
  18. thats the one Kev. Happy Xmas to you and yours Kev.
  19. am I right in saying these used to be the Ethics? or was that another salsoul group
  20. this is THE track by them for me.
  21. Think it's an overhang from dance dj culture. It never seemed to be around in the 80' s to the same extent, pre the impact of house.
  22. But harsh, IMHO. You get piss heads everywhere.
  23. Proper good that. Love it
  24. Think he makes some very valid points and you shouldn't be put of with the terminology. Though, I too, can't tolerate anyone who calls refers to records as..... Can't say it. .
