  1. My brother postsed one before the reveal on FB and I commented I'll reserve judgement before I hear them more. I feel similar about lots of non AI new release, I initially like them but they quickly loose their appeal. Its like watching special effects in old movies somehow, after looking more carefully you can see the strings!
  2. What line up, Chicago doing I'm a man! Wow

    The Gathering

Our First of 2025, this is always popular event, let us know if your traveling a distance to assure entry. Into our third year now, the gathering has grown I reputation for providing something truly different. Love ceiling basement venue and a music policy thats really about music, not egos!
  6. Third installment of Silktown @ the masonic. Word is definitely spreading, the last two event have built steadily welcoming back regulars and soul friends anew. We're really pleased to bring two of the most passionate and energetic djs around, Jordan Wilson and Ethan Howarth to Macclesfield for what promises to be a top night!
  7. One element of northern soul culture that I can't recall being documented is the use of fans by ladies at venues to cool themselves after dancing. No cheap shots here, we are gentlemen in the main, let's behave like such. Any road, I know it's not exclusive to soul events but its gone on since I started, and today and they are still in use. Did the girls at Wigan use them? When did this activity start?
  8. The Lenny and the illustrators is obviously brilliant and I'm fascinated by the debate. It raise so many ethical questions, personally I'd sooner people pursue a naturally developing sound through dancefloor reception than trying to recreate a mythical golden age through technology.
  9. Apologies, I hadn't seen the other thread please feel free to merge if needed.
  10. So we have Riker releasing a range of AI Soul tunes in a variety of styles. Opinions please, tin hats on lads! Is it worse than the cherub cheeked fat lad from Blackpool"s most dire efforts? or the way forward, will butch be hammering them at the 100 club?
Third time this year for me at Benn hall, and quite frankly I would miss it. It has the best two dancefloors of any venue I've been to, cept Macclesfield . Some of the strongest and most progressive DJ line up around and and a geographic location that makes it truly accessible to a range of punters that to come together often, so there's always chance to see different faces and old friends. Musically this was one of the very best, with some outstanding guests in both the main room and backroom. Highlights for me were Mark Jones, soulful house set and Russ Vickers soooo soulful funk in the backroom, Burnley's Dave Abbott, and Dark bosses Daz Holt, both provided sets cutting edge rarities that you just don't hear out in the main hall. Bostin!
  11. Can hardly hear any bass or drums at all.
  12. True musical genius that straddled on if the music at interesting times in music history
  13. Id be interested to know who the backing singers were on temptation. ..... Any ideas?
  14. Always room for some 70's dancer's
  15. I know I'm going get asked for a little R and B, I'll certainly give this needle time, the best outro to any record imho
  16. Looks like some deep album digging there, great selections
  17. Great news, had loads of enquiries today, it seems Macclesfield is well and truly back
  18. Hoping this has arrived when I'm back from my hols, just amazing tube that big Tim put me onto tuther week https://youtu.be/O8tNxGudUuU?si=puIkXEiopgk34Ay3
  19. Some might say youth tune but just a great dancer, made for that silky floor at the masonic https://youtu.be/2hi8-6IG5Ws?si=bFQ_T3yzRVqaz9b1
  20. Momentum certainly seems to be building. Are there any plans for next year?
  21. Just over a week to go folk!
  22. I'll be honest, i like it, tad poppy, with the brass lacking bite, but the groove holds together well and she sounds a bit like Julie Driscoll, which isn't terrible in my book. The fuzz guitar grows well in the background and the bongos give it a kick.
  23. Played at the gathering great version.
  24. Not terrible for the layman, but little interest here tbh
