  1. Thought the same, it's very similar to summat!
  2. Never attended but have always tried to collect oldies from the club, it's local and part of my heritage. So here's a list, I've been told were played, and I think most torchites will associate with Hose street in tunstall. Fuller brothers- time's a waisting Patti and the emblems- gonna love you a long long time James bounty- prove yourself a lady Patti Austin music to you heart Jimmy soul Clarke- come on and be my sweet sweet darling Lee David- temptation- is calling... Major lance- you don't want me no more First choice- this is the house Cooperettes- shingling Fred Hughes- baby boy Duke browner- crying over you Rose Batiste- hit and run It's by no means exhaustive but it's a start.
  3. Both side are great but ' classic example' is simply amazing and must surly go in the same direction as Carla, Ben e king and the Paramount four.
  4. You can here plenty this weekend at the class of 72, reunion this weekend.
  5. Just seen a young kid, maybe 17, in patchwork jeans. Maybe a revival is upon us.
  6. It has to depend somewhat on the crack, some you can barely see, others are much more noticeable and audible. The general condition also has to have an impact. Cracked record that's otherwise NM, and plays greator a really grubby copy that's G+ to Vg-?
  7. You can't talk about fashion, without context.
  8. Well thanks for this at least, I've got a red one, but have always wanted the yellow one with photos, just love artist photos on labels. Better play the flip then after 30 years. .
  9. Don't think anyone has got a problem with promos that are genuinely used for that purpose. It always perplexed me in the 90's when house and contemporary soul promos were always for sale, allbeit at reduced prices, on some cases far more available to buy than actual issues of the 12.
  10. It reminds me of buying house tunes on the 90's, half of the new UK releases I bought were on promo copies, usually at reduced prices to get them to chart and pick up sales. Dumped by reps as sale or return.
  11. On fb mate. Apologies, 'get him off my conscience'
  12. Just seen Dave pinches put a want out for this, did I miss something? No US copies on discogs, but I thought this was still a cheap record. When did it shoot up? If it has. Surely this must be one of most common records to gain value.
  13. At least the 70's reissues have proper labels, at least. Just hope some label owners are reading. I wonder how many of these are actually used as promo and sent out to club or radio/ podcast DJ's?
  14. Just wondered what folk think about label owners flogging the plain white promos of new releases for an extra tenner. Aren't they less costly, to produce, not having proper printed label's? Can't see them being more desirable in the future, personally.
  15. Genuine soul returns to biddulph. After a hiatus of 8 years, myself and the legend that is Jez Jones bring classic soul to knypersley. Great venue with large wooden dancefloor. We'll be looking forward to welcoming back some of the many soul veterans that have graced the genuine floor on the past. Expect quality, classic Northern soul with just a hint of Motown, all from original vinyl, that's the genuine in you soul! See you at the go go.... .
  16. Contemporary footy shirts won't do much for the fuller figures of many of the fraternity.
