  1. I was looking for the voicemasters, that always associated was the venue. Only went the once, national express from London but I do remember it being exceptional. As good as atmosphere, but entirely different, than the 100 at the time.
  2. All mentioned were played a whole lot in the 80's.
  3. I'd say elements of the 60's Stafford sound are still just as relevant, other bits aren't. 70's and modern were a big part of Stafford anyway Alan.
  4. Never keen on shook me, cracking up is class, IMHO.
  5. Another with a very similar backing track, different lyrics
  6. PM me to reserve, post £3.00 uk. Gino Washington With the United Cleaning Co - Hey Football- perfecta, rare soul funk unknown- ex £65 Lazier And The Lazier Strokers - royal American- as above- not on discogs- excellent-£75 The Admirations - Don't Leave Me - onederful- NM£25 High Voltage - Country Road Columbia wdj- excellent £25 Charlie Palmieri And His Orchestra - Uptight / Bugulu Promo)- Atlantic wdj- excellent £28 The Esquires - Dancin' A Hole In The World - rocky road-excellent- £28 bit of wear on label John Thomas - sure is groovy- bveep, VG just a few Mark's close to vg+, plays great. £34 Joe hicks- I'm coming home sceptre- bit of b side label missing otherwise ex £12
  7. I have no idea why this gets derided so much, personally I love it, and wasn't around at the time. But I've heard loads take the pee of it. Really, if it was a rare and an unknown it would be massive with the upfront crowd today. It's no less soulful than 'soul thing', on cobblestone, IMHO.
  8. For me this is so unlike the rest of his 60's stuff, had it for year s but never flipped or forgot about it. Great tune.
  9. I think it's ace, personally, just right for a nighter IMHO, but at the same time I can't imagine a big name dj who'd play it out either. Sad statement of how safe our scene has become. It does deserve to be massive in the backrooms at least, and hope to dance to it somewhere real soon.
  10. I bet there's someone playing around with an edit as we speak.
  11. Just heard Eddie pillar and keb, debating on this apparently thorny issue, on the excellent mod cast radio show. I've always thought it's just a pop tune that might get requested by a certain type of less discerning punter at a soul/ Motown night. Surely it wasn't played at nighters as a new release, was it?.
  12. Wounded soul, pm if interested, UK post £3. Syl Foreman - Before I Leave You - big star - vg £30 on hold! rare green label variant. Play through fine with just a little surface noise that's overpowered by the music The Deltas - Hey Girl Just Like You / Do What Comes Easy- Chicago music bag - vg. £20 Vinyl is really clean, with just a few light marks. Labels have extensive water damage, hence price. Earl Wright - Them Love Blues / I Don't Know - virgo- vg £20 Vinyl has just light marks and plays great, label has some water damage. Still a good dj copy- Dan Brantley - You Got To Prove It / Begging Just Ain't My Bag - federal vg- £30 Has wear and a 2 cm edge crack. Hence price. Plays great. Great dancer similar to Daryll Banks and Major Burke's
  13. A great listen, keb fully deserves the title legend, you won't get many better guys more interesting on our humble scene. Where can I find the other parts, mar mate?
  14. Was massive in the 80's, Keele ect. Yeah, I can still go for that. https://youtu.be/R1wxj8B9Alw
  15. Those toilets and re stocking the bar with a shopping trolly mid way through, only added to the ambiance.
  16. Domar always used to tout this as a mecca record, didn't go, was it actually played? Has to be a contender if it was, I'm a zeppelin fan so love it, but in a northern soul context? What were Levine or Curtis thinking . https://youtu.be/ftknR1gf9qw
  17. Yes totally but that quirkyness, is essentially northern soul, too. Especially when I was younger, I was always drawn to odd ball songs titles and lyrics.
  18. Never went to wigan but love this from my own days on the scene this used to get some action at the 100 club. https://youtu.be/J2-33RbgVno
  19. Surprised you can sell it, yourself f it's dodgy.
  20. 79, so Perhaps it got big after the hayday of booting, at least in 7 inch format.
  21. Thanks, for that. very much a quality, early exclusive for wolvo. I'm assuming it didn't go massive at that time, although it's a known first play. When did it become a big sound then? Not aware of a wigan boot, so did it get more plays later, at Stafford then?
  22. Just heard RS, spin this on a torch and catacombs special, I'd assumed late Wigan, or possibly Levine, but not played a lot, at the mecca. So when was this class northern outing first spun and by whom? Is Richard not sticking to his personally defined playlist, which is fine, or was this an early find, on the the scene?
  23. Couple of shots from Bolehills, Sheffield from their recent track re opening jam.
  24. Oh arh, would mind a bit of this, hope you'll take a request for your cover up ' crackling rose' .
