  1. Thanks for posting had some cracking nights here. Probably and sadly, the last of it's kind, excepting the 100 club.
  2. Not on that that must be an octave in pitch difference, though the vocal delivery style is similar.
  3. It hasn't got a printed Label, the ink is printed directly onto the styrene, as with some of the big top releases.

  6. I too was pondering this with a certain cover up. If it's unknown, it certainly not been searched for in the way the say, the salvadors, has for, in that case 35 years or so. The thought of count boxes sitting in a warehouse is scary and off putting.

  8. Good Friday brings our next installment of genuine soul at knypersley Victoria, cricket club. As it's a bank holiday we're opening early, from 4pm. And we have confirmed some extra special guests to be announced real soon. Keep you're eyes peeled, 'it's going to be a big thing'.
  9. Forgot about the originals, amazing, the whole room seemed to gasp, as one of the vocalists erupted onto song, never seen that at any concert before.
  10. Great buzz about this event, we are pleased to announce that the wonderful Sue fisher, will be flying in to dj this Friday. Sue has DJ'd many moons ago at genuine soul events and we're really excited to have her back. The residents dj will be aided and abbeted by soul stalwart, big Paul Dale. 'Get thee sen down, it's gowna bay a big thing'
  11. Soul wise, James brown no question, 2nd Lee Feilds, see him if you get chance!
  12. Not certain but there it is something similar in the voices, great artist, jimmy bailey as evidenced on this lovely ballad, it's the closest I can currently find to connect the voice. Jimmy seems to have been struggling commercially around '68 when funny girl was recorded? I'm assuming it would have been hot on the heels of the movie to cash in, possibly early 69. He had just one release on calla and one on Mala in '68 so perhaps he was sessioning, I can imagine with he would have been in demand with his range and versatility.
  13. He's a bit of a 'rent a voice' very versatile indeed, just wish I could find a recording where he's singing in that tenor style, like a smokey or Marvin Smith, as in Sadie, I'm sure he was capable of it, still exploring his repetiour ATM.
  14. JR bailey is a good call and thanks for the hard work, you got further than me. It could be JR, but on most of his material it seems like he was 'doing Marvin Gaye'. Sounds like he has a fantastic range but can't find an example where the vocal styles are similar enough to compare. So I reckon JR is a potential vocalist but I'm not convinced. Be interesting to what others think tho.
  15. I still like it, but it is overplayed, Dave. The oldies brigade think they're playing a classy underplayed tune, the more upfront think let play summat they know. Hence it's ubiquity it's fits in everywhere, but lets just give it a little rest now
  16. Chandlers must be one of the most hammered records on the scene, feel like I've heard at every nighter I've ever been too.
  17. Good point Kev, mines a US white demo, as Dave says vinyl. Not seen a vinyl issue, me sen.
  18. Thanks for those, was looking as the other releases on the weird kind of budget label. Lots of superhero records on it. Kinda like the tighten up, Archie hill and the thrills
  19. Searched but can see it's been posted before, anyone know who the uncredited singer on Sadie, Sadie, is? Sounds a lot like Marvin Smith, to these ears. Any ideas? I'm curious because he's just too good to never have cut anything else.
  20. He's mint live, shame there's no Manchester date, sad loss gorilla bar.
  21. Let's hope someone brings a box like the one I went through at swinton.
