  1. IDWTSM, was all over the soul pirate stations at the time as well as getting sounds in West end clubs. Big club sound in London.
  2. Great to see the buzz on this night steadily build, looking forward to another great night of amazing musical diversity.
  3. I was heavily involved with 'oldskool house' events. It just hold attraction for me any longer. It literally is the top 50 house records over and over. It just seems like a big cynical cash grab.
  4. Stopped drinking brandy last week, possibly the DT's. Funny thing is, I'll concede, but I'm still not convinced, I can see the grainy scan on an old list, in my mind. Might book a holiday in Athens and get digging .
  5. Apologies folk, think both our memories are addled. Maybe you're right and I'm just confusing with Frankie Beverly, I do find it odd that we both confused the two and and chubby is a Philly record, though. I'll file my copy next to my Trends album then.
  6. John just confirmed he has a copy on auction in August 2020, but says he may had had one twenty years ago too.
  7. I'm doubting myself now, could have been Frankie Beverly, but I'm sure John manship would remember, it was his top auction item at the time. Seems to be a philly connection with the other top ten release's. Searched but can't a scan myself.
  8. Last month was a cracker, seems like post covid momentum is building on this unique night.
  9. The Greek top ten,may well have been an issue, think they have white stock copies on that label, I can definitely remember it on the front of a manship list, early 2000's.
  10. Well it's that's certainly not new, I heard many say how dead the regular Saturdays were at Wigan after the oldies nighters started
  11. Fair enough I was going to mention daptone but I'd say it's the exception not and definitely not the rule with recent recordings.
  12. Tend to agree with you rob, about the tune not being a recent recording and about modern records in general. James hunter is an exception.
  13. Just received a retuned record from Switzerland after two months!
  14. I was about to say the must be loads of versions, but Ray still kills it for me. Hugh Laurie is quite a credible jazz act apparently
  15. You've not heard the song before Rob? You're putting me on! Ray Charles? 64
  16. USA and Canada have been fine but Europe a nightmare! Just end up refunding and recieving the record returned months later on sales. Purchases take ages to arrive.
  17. Seem to remember manship having it on Greek top ten- promo, early 2000's
  18. Thanks for that, great bit of pop, soul and chips and gravy. doesn't say much about playing the northern stuff live.
  19. It is, and isn't relevant but let's stick to the thing about bands; I agree, it might be personally distasteful to some but I wouldn't begrudge any musician a gig. There was plenty British bands playing soul covers in the 60's. As an interesting side, was snake Davis the first guy to do the 'northern live' thing? or was there UK bands around in the 70's playing Northern live, did Nosmo or Wigans ovation tour? Or was it just studio based.
  20. Look a lot like the art from yellow submarine, that, Kev.
  21. Seen a host of disappointing bio movies recently but have high hopes with HBO Involvement.
  22. For someone who 'dont know, don't care' your spending a lot of time looking at this thread. What's that called? Er trolling I think? , And any other light hearted emoji out there. .
  23. Seems your valid points are a little too technical for the comprehension of some on here.
