Never dream of correcting a man who knows everything
For someone who 'dont know, don't care' your spending a lot of time looking at this thread. What's that called? Er trolling I think? , And any other light hearted emoji out there. .

Seems your valid points are a little too technical for the comprehension of some on here.

Went to my local soul night last night. Great tunes , bit of a dance, lovely people and a few beers, all original spins.. don't know don't care.
Wonderful insight, go post a pic of thee Sen holding a pint, with a hat on and pointing, on Facebook, there not enough of that and far too much of discussion about music on here! . Feeling a little facetious myself this morning.

I'd assume we're talking, the neo soul movement that started in the late 90's; Erika Badu, de' Angelo, Jill Scott ect.

Seen quite a few copies, in one form or another for sale in the last few weeks. Rather a lot have gone through eBay over the years.

I can get away with Richard Berry at scooter events, not tried it at a Soul night as for the
Joan Berry track, I don’t think I have ever the ability to move my feet fast enough to keep up
Richard berry was massive be in the 80's think that is still a goer and ripe for reactivation, most people already know the song at least.

I suppose that’s the problem with “guesting” at venues that you haven’t visited previously
That's just rude, plenty that turn up 15 minutes before, haven't a clue what's already been played.

Jo Jo Petite - Joey - (Boss)
Another, great but 'you conna dance to it'. This isn't that fast but has that, 'heatwave', beat, dancers dread. You'll see them try to shuffle to it and give up after the first verse.

sunlovers - you'll never make the grade.
Bought this on here about ten years ago, I'm guessing Wigan? still a catchy dancer but just too fast, again, for today's floor, so had to pass.

I know this thread goes back a while but this is doing my head in. Been asked to do a set Friday night locally bit of Motown for the handbag brigade etc. So me thinks buy a few cheapies Chairman of Board that sort of stuff and what came to mind Scrub Board £6.99 sorted. Now am i going senile, because the version i was doing my whirling dervish impression to, had a brake in the music half way through for about 4 secs and then carried on or was that just my imagination running away with me.
Always a staple when I play a set at the crown in burslem, Stoke, I use the break to segue into the vocal, double bubble!

I hope you’re gonna treat the handbag brigade to 6 by 6...now that’s what I call a proper party-starter.
Never worked for me, always clears the floor, too fast

Ace, one of the best I've seen in terms of getting it right. Adey and keb, are always reliable and passionate when asked about the scene.

Did a bit of digging in central America, most of the 70's vinyl seemed okay but the few 60's records I found were of dubious quality. High Humidity can't help the survival of vacation vinyl or styrene.

There's a major Lance tune that's really similar to all three, can never recall the title, probably Curtis penned anyway.

As mentioned, the depth of knowledge is like the Mariana's trench. Welcome aboard.

It's not about the vocal performance for me, but this is a pretty average song. You might say 'good flip', if it was the b side to uptempo stormer, but that's it. A really good example of a tune that would never get deck time if it wasn't rare, can't see it exciting dancers anywhere.

Finding a paper match could be difficult. Think I could spot the difference between a Lazer copied print and the traditional method pretty easy, unless monochrome, that would be harder to spot.
Interesting development of the scene?

It is, and isn't relevant but let's stick to the thing about bands; I agree, it might be personally distasteful to some but I wouldn't begrudge any musician a gig. There was plenty British bands playing soul covers in the 60's. As an interesting side, was snake Davis the first guy to do the 'northern live' thing? or was there UK bands around in the 70's playing Northern live, did Nosmo or Wigans ovation tour? Or was it just studio based.
