  1. To me there are only two kinds of people on the scene, those who love and live for the music and those that want to expliot it, in some way, for reasons of greed and ego, they exist in all aspects of the scene and on every level.
  2. I had this and sold it, new I'd regret it, its a great track!
  3. We always try to include a really wide mix of music at Genuine soul, from club classics to underplayed and top 100 oldies, the DJ's we've used reflect this, from Pete Roberts through Maria and Carl Willingham, although this mix of music has had its problems, at times. Its a policy we aim to continue with regaurdless. Thing is the so many 'rare' people can be ignorant of some of the lesser know club sounds, but just lump them together as oldies. and it goes without saying that loads of the oldies crowd instantly hate anything played since wigan, then go and dance to tony Galla, saying remember this...........
  4. oh sorry that would explain why they both sound bleedin awful then, thanks John. Appologies folk for my ignorance, I tend to be pretty niave about contempory music. I tend to listen with anticpation to the next big thing, and then get sadly deflated once I've heard them.
  5. Melvin sparks is awesome mate, it came out on a reissue 12 recently too.
  6. I'll confirm its dead serious, this guy cant sing mate, nor can niles barclay, to these ears they both sing in a soul style, or an aproximation of one, rather than actually singing with soul, just my honest opinion. Both are diffucult to listen to for any length of time, not something I could accuse Marvin or Otis of. and dont start me on that bleeding paper lad only got 5 tracks into the CD before it whent through the window.
  7. Honestly guys have you never heard an actual soul singer! the guy is wors than Nasal Barclay. I mean Niles, LOL.
  8. Her'e an LP cut I'll be spinning anyway Tony Galla - Rescue me (micromark LP)
  9. For me it has to be the 100 club anniversary back on sept, my first time in 20 years, virtually to the day, on a balmy late summers eve, not cars and all those rickshaws driven by men in mankini's!!!!!!!
  10. Appologies for the belated enrty, but hopefully of interest to some, this was a great afternoon/ evening of across the board soul that continues our ethos of openmindedness on the decks, if its on a genuine pressing it gets played, cheap underplayed and rare ( though we usually rely on guests to accomodate this.) We had a couple of excellent guest's, two local lads Paul and Genuine soul Virgin, Simon, who played blinding spots focusing on the classics. Geese, early spot, 4.30 till 5.10ish, underplayed, new aquisitions and a few classics. Alfreda Brockington- your love has got me chained........
