  16. [. Most dj's have no ideas of their own, just copy others, have no digging skills, and I don't even know why they bother really, it just seems more like some sort of middle-aged cock measuring contest than a progressive music scene most of the time. Also the internet amplifies this, people just sit on their arses copying what they see on the screen like "monkey see, monkey do" zombies. Copying playlists as a primary means of record finding is so lame. I'm not saying I'm amazing at all, but I just think the majority of dj's are a bit crap and the bar has been set way too low. If you can't develop your own sound, find your own records, and play them in the right order with some sort of originality, then what'as the point in it all? Cover ups are something I do find slightly distasteful in some ways, but at this point in the game they're a more legitimate tool than ever for keeping things fresh & moving.

3rd time lucky guys, hope the details on this are all correct.
  19. For me this is so different than a 40 odd year old tune being played out under the paper, there's so much more chance of a contemporary artist beniffing from it, although the bias from recorded to live has changed so much that now it's recordings being used to promote a live apprearance rather than the other way around. Strangly I could see how covering a contempory artist might be use a record being covered on 'a scene' in a positive way, look at what both Stock Aikin and Waterman and the young disiples did to promote records in the 8ts and 9ts. ( fake 7ts releases). Artist's actually covering up there own stuff!
  20. thinking back to when I first started on the scene, mid 8ts, and Butch was establishing his rep, twas hardly I a hey day of great attendances and thriving venues, and I should imagine that the commercial side of the scene is largley missed by the masculine one, at most of the venues he plays.
  21. HEARD BUTCH'S SWANSONG IS GOING TO BE THE KINGS HALL ALL-NIGHTER IN JULY. I FOR ONE WILL BE THERE. I'M SURE THIS PHOTO OF BUTCH DANCING AT THE CASINO IS AS RARE & EXCLUSIVE AS SOME OF HIS SOUNDS. Butch is the one in thre middle with hooped top on, would say he was about 17 at the time.
