  1. not sure If mentioned before, but my lp is Stereo, are they rarer than the mono version?
  2. I recently asked a known oldskool house DJ to do a function for me, he asked for the exorbinate amount but said, 'I'm one of the few left that still plays off vinyl!' checking out some of the others on the oldskool curcuit it seems he's right!
  3. sorry mate, I was just saying that punters value vinyl and the idea of 'keeping it real'. sounds a bit poncey now I've read it back, just me trying to be clever, LOL.
  4. Good on you Nidge, lets hope and insist it stays that way, the commercial side of the scene should realise that integrity has an intrinsic finiacial value.
  5. Its certainly not a problem specific to the scene and I think a sad reflection of the change in alcohol consumption in the nation over the last 20 year, ie since rave culture started to cut into breweries profits and alcohol was hard- sold to the youth market in many new ways, anyone evey see mock syringes of shots in the mid 9ts? Basically for many young people today the main purpose of going out is to get absolutely bladdered as soon as possible and the culture that goes with that, think 18 to 30's hol mentality has no respect for anything other than who's getting the next round. So a scene like our's with a delicate culture of respect and many quirky mannerisms is so completely alien to the mainstream public, its not suprising they have no comprehension of how to behave.
  6. He's certainly not the only major DJ from the 7ts I've heard accused of doing it.
  7. I used to carry round a wodge back in the day, but now I dont have a single membership to a soul club in me wallet, been to loads of nights over the last couple of years and I've neither been offered a membership or needed one to gain entry.
  8. sound ace, right up mar street.
  9. just to echo the many sentiments experessed, Mr Jebb you are reknowned by the knowledgable as a true founding father of the scene and your contribution cannot be overstated.
  10. as no one mentioned the lesuire dome/ jollees, that was a nighter venue in the mid to late 8ts.
  11. they did a few nighters there as well, lightwood lane? think it was neil and jackie clowes running it, okeh promotions, I just remember that fecking awful frank wilson istrumental filling the floor.
  12. suits, harvey's collection. anyone watching this excellent, imho, new us show on Dave? Clocked harvery's Lp collection, around 5K of albums adourne his office, I havent seen every single minute of the opening episodes but has he referered to it? The show has featured a few soul/ r and b cuts in the background and I thought I spyed a number of black folk on the covers. what's he collect, jazz? Rand B? soul or funk?
  13. James brown goes on about using reverse acetate's that were cut to prevent copying, anyone ever hear of this practice?
  14. Chicago's Trax studios used 1000's of unsold Sargent Pepper to cut house 12's in the 8ts, Rocky jones openly admits this, though he did say 'he didnt use old sneakers' as often claimed.
  15. This is such crap, is this to claw back what they lost on the Radnap case yesterday! How many Mills spent to get the Tax on a few hundred thou!
  16. It was still a decent place to get clothes from when I was in my late teans a mere 25 years ago!
  17. think I missed one delight to go to pickering's night at the Hac, the night someone set into the doormen with an axe, I kid you not! Twas the first time he played Whitney v's leftfiled, me mate's were going mental about it and i had to wait a whole week to hear it! I was gutted!
  18. the music shop was chatfields wasnt it? and is the clothes shop chawners Jez, cause I was just a bairn back then, LOL.
  19. I went to that, with the northern night downstairs, think it was boxing night 1990, I lost it big time though! LOL, Seem to remember Njoi did a PA with Sasha DJing.
  20. I'd add freetown and left bank to the list, think Johnny B and duncan did soul nights there, and what about the Bear in Castle youth! Jez mentioned a club in stoke from the early 7ts, anyone?
  21. I'm on the podium wearing a bobble hat and oakley shades, at night!
  22. The Eclipse night were bleedin awful all the grooverider sh**e! bangin techno, Delight was where it were at if you had any soul left in yer!
  23. From August 90 till may 91, Delite was THE biggest club night bar none in the north west ( the hac was busy applying for a new licience!) and certainly one of the most influentail of all the early rave clubs. Sasha was the man, but Dave Seaman, Laurent Garnier and Golden's Pete Bromly supported the wax spinning. Music was a mix of Chicago house, Italo and european piano house Anthems, Contrary to what many think of as early rave tunes the tempo was often slow and the vibe mellow man, musta been the Doves, LOL.
  24. When I was a kid, on the estate where I grew up, if you only knew one NS tune it would of undoubtably be 'Skiing in the snow.' If was massive on the scene @ the torch or not,it certainly had an impact in youth clubs and the like with generation to young to go to nighters.
  25. THERE'S TWO ISSUE'S OF THIS, ONE WITH A LONGER INTRO AND IS SLIGHTLY MORE TO BUY i BELIEVE.
