  1. A massive thank you to everyone who attended the Masonic last night. We could feel a buzz building about this one on a fine summer's evening and we weren't disappointed with well over 100 in and a busy dancefloor all-night. Both our guests; Amy and Nigel played blinding sets offered variety and quality whilst staying focused of the dancers.

It's great as a promotor and resident to see this venue rise again to be just a great quality night out. Hope you can make our next event in July.

Missed the last event, the anniversary so despite an MOT fail and having to let down and my usual companions I managed to scrounge a lift, from some wonderful people, and attend on Saturday. What can I say other than the demise of the scene ain't what it was!

Strange to see some old clips of keele recently from those halcyon days of the late 80's and see just about the same numbers on the dancefloor as Saturday 😀

    Like the 80's the nighter offers a massively diverse selection of music the encompasses the gamont of Northern soul. Highlights musically for me;

Chris louca who pushed the boundaries whilst keeping the floor busy throughout with some cutting edge northern mod😉

Stuart Raith- Prestons finest Cyberman played some killer unreleased soul and funk that just has to be heard!

Andy Burns really impressed me and got me to the floor again and again with a blistering set of up tempo modern. Al mason being a particular favorite.

And finally John Weston who proved yet again he remains at the very top his game with a progressive set of up tempo delights.

Next installment- you need to be there! Support or it will die and you'll be part of the problem, this is a labour of love, it's proper, not a money making racket run by parasites living off past glory. Get yourself to these venues that need support.

  3. It's been a very busy month on the event calendar forany but despite that and in hospitable weather Dordon still rocked last night.

This event for me is one of few places I can really rely on to deliver the goods musically. You can be assured both the guests and residents will offer something you haven't heard and can dance too. It comes from genuine passion and insight, simple. I got there pretty late but caught most of jafon Hodges excellent set that showed a collector of great taste but he also managed to keep the floor busy. Next up Ethan Howard, best I've bread Jim play, he reminded us all why we got into it, rammed the floor with sterling classics then kept us there with a selection of magnificent soulful house. I e waited a lifetime to here it done as well as they, credit to you lad!

Les Norman is a consummate professional loon😂 but he's got some ace tunes I don't own and want😭 any road he played a great set, pitched just right for the time of night. See you at the end of March!

  4. Massive massive thank you to all who attended Macclesfield masonic last night. What a top night, amazing to be involved with the revival of this great venue.

Our honourable guests Ethan Brent James Howarth, who had me deserting door duties to race to the dance floor for 'Nite people ' and Jordan Wilson who has become a real force of nature in terms of selection and confidence or delivery. Both brought their A game to keep the dancers happy and create a real buzz on the silky dance floor. My back was proper done in but I still couldn't resist a shuffle😁

Music wise, the emphasis truly is on the dancefloor, everything from big current sounds, quality oldies to out and out classics from the roots of the scene, it all goes down. Always room to try something fresh though and great to see the below get a great reception.

Our next is March 21st, proper Northern soul for dancers, simple!

  5. Third time this year for me at Benn hall, and quite frankly I would miss it. It has the best two dancefloors of any venue I've been to, cept Macclesfield 😉. Some of the strongest and most progressive DJ line up around and and a geographic location that makes it truly accessible to a range of punters that to come together often, so there's always chance to see different faces and old friends.

Musically this was one of the very best, with some outstanding guests in both the main room and backroom. Highlights for me were Mark Jones, soulful house set and Russ Vickers soooo soulful funk😁 in the backroom,  Burnley's Dave Abbott, and Dark bosses Daz Holt, both provided sets cutting edge rarities that you just don't hear out in the main hall.

    Bostin! 😁

  6. Third installment of this event and I had a great night. This venue really does deserve to be back as a nighter, large dance floor, clean ample seating and parking, in terms of balloons it's one of the best.

Musically early doors delivered quality classics and some interesting selections but it was when col and Gaye kidson stepped up to the decks that the night stepped up a gear, for me. Gaye and Col knew what to do, to generate excitement of the floor without resorting to the obvious, playing some of the biggest nighter sounds mixed with a selection of tunes the lead the way to the future of the scene. Ted was up next and simply proved why he is considered one of the he best ln the game at the moment, filling the floor from start to finish of his set.

Tony Smith's contribution to the scene is legend in collector's circles and he certainly didn't disappoint with a selection of quality rare soul seldomly heard outside the smoke. Next we had, prince of the Black country, John Weston, John gets everywhere, plays his thing and we love him for it! Hard act to follow but luci Jones has become such a professional she followed John with a set of high energy rhythm, soul and flow that kept me bopping. Proceedings brought to a close by stalwarts Rob Smith and pep. Thanks for getting in all three of our requests Rob. 😄

Many thanks for all who attended our first event at the masonic for silktown soul club on Friday. I was just such a nice feeling to bring old friends and regulars from the days of Macclesfield soul club at the venue. Obviously there is a lot of love for this venue and fond memories to be cherished. In re-establishing the venue we set out to offer a quality northern souls night in a wonderful venue, our first night really did that.

The residents had dancers up and at it from early doors but when former promotor Ashley Fellows took to the decks proceedings moved to the next level. Ashley really does know this crowd and really delivered a top notch set full of dancefloor detonators. Next up we had Ted Massey from the west Midlands, Ted's reputation goes before him and he showed he's still right on top on his game offering us music the very few others own. The evening was brought to a close by the able residents, myself, jez Jones and Paul Dale who kept the floor busy till close.

We hope you can join us on the 1st November at this great venue when Macclesfield soul club legends mopsey and foxy join us!

  8. It's been great to watch this event build steadily over the last 18 months, last Saturday, however saw Keele with a very busy dancefloor and a real buzz about it once more.

Proceedings were kicked off by jez Jones, who delivered a great set full of lesser known oldies and underplayed gems. Alan Jenkins, Fred Benson and of course Ted Massey brought our the big guns with a top selection of rare classics. In contrast Johnny beggs followed with a set of exclusives and one offs. John weston has to be one of the very best northern and R&B DJs in the game and played a highly danceble set including the gentlemen four and muchachos as requests from me😁. Fellow gathering resident proved she is one of the best out there at the moment with a set full of energy and verve, filling the floor in the small hours with easy- just grooving along. Proceedings were closed by Rob Smith and pep, who played quality rare classics of an ilk you only really get to here at nighters. All in all a top night and proper nighter.

  9. It really was an absolute pleasure to be asked to DJ at FTMNTC. Soul nights are plentiful but this event is truly unique in allowing the djs the freedom to play what they want.

Having missed the last couple of events it was great to catch up with old friends and see an evergrowing crowd of regulars attending the event. It was a real pleasure to DJ on the same bill as Martin who played an absolute blinding set, with a vanguard of quality, obscurity and diversity. To be straight forward, I didn't know half of what he played, he filled the floor and the diversity was amazing in Martin's set, which exemplified the FTMNTC ethos. Got to give credit to the residents and promotors who make the event possible and set the tone for the music. These lads are definitely on to something here!
