The Lenny and the illustrators is obviously brilliant and I'm fascinated by the debate. It raise so many ethical questions, personally I'd sooner people pursue a naturally developing sound through dancefloor reception than trying to recreate a mythical golden age through technology.

Apologies, I hadn't seen the other thread please feel free to merge if needed.

So we have Riker releasing a range of AI Soul tunes in a variety of styles. Opinions please, tin hats on lads! Is it worse than the cherub cheeked fat lad from Blackpool"s most dire efforts? or the way forward, will butch be hammering them at the 100 club?

Third time this year for me at Benn hall, and quite frankly I would miss it. It has the best two dancefloors of any venue I've been to, cept Macclesfield . Some of the strongest and most progressive DJ line up around and and a geographic location that makes it truly accessible to a range of punters that to come together often, so there's always chance to see different faces and old friends. Musically this was one of the very best, with some outstanding guests in both the main room and backroom. Highlights for me were Mark Jones, soulful house set and Russ Vickers soooo soulful funk in the backroom, Burnley's Dave Abbott, and Dark bosses Daz Holt, both provided sets cutting edge rarities that you just don't hear out in the main hall. Bostin!

Just over a week to go folk! -
I'll be honest, i like it, tad poppy, with the brass lacking bite, but the groove holds together well and she sounds a bit like Julie Driscoll, which isn't terrible in my book. The fuzz guitar grows well in the background and the bongos give it a kick.

Played at the gathering great version.

Not terrible for the layman, but little interest here tbh

Had interest from far and wide from many who missed our first event. Be great to see the two former residents back at it and doing it the way only mopsey and dean can, two weeks folks! -

Next episode of the return of Macclesfield's quality soul night, from silktown soul club. Nice buzz steadily building for this event. You know where it's at on the 1st of next month -
Third installment of this event and I had a great night. This venue really does deserve to be back as a nighter, large dance floor, clean ample seating and parking, in terms of balloons it's one of the best. Musically early doors delivered quality classics and some interesting selections but it was when col and Gaye kidson stepped up to the decks that the night stepped up a gear, for me. Gaye and Col knew what to do, to generate excitement of the floor without resorting to the obvious, playing some of the biggest nighter sounds mixed with a selection of tunes the lead the way to the future of the scene. Ted was up next and simply proved why he is considered one of the he best ln the game at the moment, filling the floor from start to finish of his set. Tony Smith's contribution to the scene is legend in collector's circles and he certainly didn't disappoint with a selection of quality rare soul seldomly heard outside the smoke. Next we had, prince of the Black country, John Weston, John gets everywhere, plays his thing and we love him for it! Hard act to follow but luci Jones has become such a professional she followed John with a set of high energy rhythm, soul and flow that kept me bopping. Proceedings brought to a close by stalwarts Rob Smith and pep. Thanks for getting in all three of our requests Rob.

Only one guest left to mention and that's the crown prince of black country soul, the Duke of driotwich, the baron of BlackHeath, Johnny Weston. John has ploughed his own furrow pushed his own style, grinned at them when they didn't like it, persisted till they did, and then requested it! He's the man! It you've not heard John do his thing, without compromise, come tomorrow you'll dig it!

Buzz is building lots of interest in this event, spread the word Macclesfield is rising! -
Chris Davis: Aside from being just one of the nicest people you could meet Chris is possibly one of the most innovative DJs in the last 20 years of the the scene. I had a host of folks saying 'you should get Chris on!' I'm expecting left field and different from this guy, always digging, always moving forward, is something I, and many associate with this fella!
