Can't see anyone else mentioned them, but apologies if I've missed it. it's not like soul fans to opt for the obscure and ignore those who had mainstream success is it. Any road, surly they deserve a mention
An element of the discussion thats overlooked is why anyone would want to do this? As a commercial venture I'm afraid it's doomed to fail, look how many labour of love small labels put out stuff to little claim with little financial compensation. Without the added issue of wether it's credible to it's market because of the way it was produced. We really need machines to a style of music that's about human qualities?
Think this is the disc Maria and Karl had or another cut of it. If I remember right, it came from a west mids collector who had an indiscretion and this was all that was left of it after his missus caught him, as she couldn't snap it!
Seem to remember maria and Karl, rest his soul playing an acetate credited to a willingham, and saying that sharing a surname it made it particularly special to them. Could it be related?
Really saddened by the loss of one of our regulars and local nighter stalwart, Joey Owen. I amongst myself others will certainly be dedicating a tune to him.
Is the stax copy of Otis redding/ Johnny Taylor blues in the night legit? Anyone? I know the album was the original source of this unissued track. Many thanks in advance
