And in time with the music (which makes a refreshing change) Len
-
Great that records get's em going.......It's rubbish when it's the other way around - From them moving and grooving to standing and staring Len
-
Yes, we felt it is going well so will leave it running - Don't forget to vote for our man folks! Len
-
Great stuff - This record is a 'double whammy'. The other side is also a beautiful tune. Len 'Jo Ann Garrett - Stay By My Side'
-
I've often thought about taking my own ipod (or Walkman) So if you see me dancing outa time - You know why! Len
-
You can get used to empty dance floors - Just blame the promoter for booking you, and mutter to yourself......"Philistines the lot of em"..... But in the interests of 'the bigger picture', as a general tune that should work anywhere, I'd probably use 'Jo Ann Garrett - Whole New Plan'. A class tune that most would know and like at any venue. If that didn't work then they don't deserve to hear anymore Len
-
Those few older documentary's such as this one are invaluable to mine and many other's memories - It's a big thanks from me for those. Len
-
Awful record btw Len
-
Good for you mate Alas my teenage angst is still with me at the age of 49 and a half - Hence 'power to him' for not giving a t*ss about what people think. There's a lot more important things happening in the world to be bothered about such goings on Len
-
Been keeping an eye on this thread - I’m sure the guy on the telly is well aware that if you put yaself ‘out there’ you’re gonna be open to both praise & criticism. I recon he is of an age where he couldn’t care less - Good on him for that. Len
-
I think you're absolutely right. As has been said, it's up to others to say if they want to credit / associate someone with a record. There's many records I associate with certain DJs, and they are not always the first ones to play them - All part of the fond memories. Len
-
Not forgetting Ady Croasdell. Discovering records is a separate thing to breaking them, although this is often 'hand in hand' of course (Discovered and broken by the same person) Len
-
Lots of us do care, and are very interested in who discovered what / who did the hard work of breaking what. But there are also lots (like Steve) who are not so interested. I remember a quote someone said a while back......."I've been doing this for over 40 years, never learnt a thing!"....... Len
-
I know exactly what you mean, and heartily agree ref 'me, myself and I through the tinternet' - It's stomach churning at times, it really is. I can see how what Sean states shown in your above post could come across as maybe a bit of a 'brag', but in this case, Sean is relaying an achievement he is proud of (not bragging about it) I suppose because there's so much self promotion that goes on via the internet, that in itself stops genuine people daring to state anything they are proud to have done. Len

Sean is a modest fella, and wouldn't for one moment knowingly take credit for someone else's discovery / or hijack someone else's record that they happen to be championing at any given time (Which does often happen) Quote off the article from Sean......"although I’ve djed over 30 years nearly all the records have always been spun by somebody else"..... Sean's just picked up on this particular record at a different time, and to be fair, it seems he has broken it to different audiences, of whom associate him with it - Sean being the first person they have heard play it. That said, I also like facts to be correct, and I'm sure Sean does too. All the best, Len

143 If I was the 3rd DJ on and they have played 30 of my tunes - I would have a hard think as to why I was DJing full stop All the best, Len

Why £300 Carolyn Crawford 6t's 40th Anniversary ?
Len replied to stevefrost's topic in Look At Your Box
I can't understand anyone selling them full stop. An event such as The 100 Club 40th Anniversary is something that will never be repeated (Hence the prices I suppose) Nina and I would get one each when we went to the anniversary's, so sometimes we would give one away to friends - No regrets as they went to good homes. Len -
Just listening to the show. It's really moving, and a lovely tribute - Thanks. My heart goes out to everyone who knew John - His family should be very proud. Len.

I don't think there's a collection in the land without a record sleeve with 'Soul Bowl' stated on it. I fondly remember going through soul packs, putting them in my different stacks, and even up to today I still re-visit records I filed that now sound brilliant, which back then I 'shelved' and forgot about. RIP John Anderson. Len.

Articles: The 100 Club Allnighter - 40 Years on by Butch & Co
Len replied to Neckender's topic in Front Page News & Articles
I met Sean on The 100 Club dance floor - My first time there. I was 'ok', but knew I was honored to be there (if that makes sense) Sean must have sensed something because he picked me up and span me around whilst giving me a massive kiss on the lips! How weird you might say - But it made me feel welcome. Like I said, the music is the best, as is the team that puts it all together for us, along with such an iconic venue. But in addition to that are the many attendees who help make that 'magic' happen - A perfect storm Nostalgia is a strange yet pleasant thing - I can't image how Ady must feel looking back over 40 years of The 100 Club (Let alone his 25 years of running The Cleethorpe's weekender) Happy memories indeed. He is also looking forward for future generations which must also be applauded. Len- 40 comments

A great article, that sums it all up perfectly. I wasn’t going to comment as too much to say, but I just stopped welding and walked back in to my office muttering to myself that I have to write something. So many people are truly grateful for their individual memories of The 100 Club - The music, the faces, friends, husbands, wives, and even children! At our wedding I remember Ady smiling and saying to Nina’s mum……”It’s my fault”….. I’ll keep it short as I’m sure many will want to add their comments. I must just mention the legend that is Sean Adams (100 Club member Number 1) He was one of many attendees who added so much to the ‘magic’ that is The 100 Club. Thank you! Len ‘n’ Nina.- 40 comments

Yes deep condolences Dave. My Dad passed away 4 years ago, and I have mentioned him a few times in my posts on here recently. Up until then, I hadn't really spoken about the subject, and when I did mention to various people about my loss, they shared their stories. I don't think you ever completely get over losing your parents, but learn to live with it, and cherish those fond memories. The day of my Dad's funeral was the proudest day of my life - All these people I remembered from my childhood turned up. I cried like a baby from start to finish, well until because it was such a hot day and the room was packed a woman fainted - Queue my older sister......."That'll be the other woman"...... For a while I've been thinking whether it would be an idea to start a thread on here for people to share their stories / memories of their parents - I think it would be nice. All the best, Len

6ts cleethorpes weekenders dance competition winners
Len replied to Speedlimit's topic in All About the SOUL
Hi Steve, There's an old thread - I think some names are still missing! (This is ref the DJ dance competition) All the best, Len -
I used to think that, but my experience of selling a few to pay for a holiday (rather than for feeding the kids as it were) was very liberating. So, choosing to sell to spend the money on something nice is something I don't think many would regret. Good luck with your sales Ian. All the best, Len
