  1. I can understand what you are saying, but I can promise you it isn’t just ‘another gimmick’ Elaine has planned this for decades, it really is a labour of love. She’s taken some great photos over the years to capture this special thing of ours, and that is the reason she is doing this film. I am taking this film for what it is — a film, and if it gives me some sort of insight to what it was really like back then - great. I suppose this is where your doubts come in - I will watch it, then trust those that were ‘there’ to let me know how accurate it is. All the best, Len
  2. Yep, same here. Everyone needs to stop focusing on the 'actors' and concentrate on the 'subject', or we will end up spoiling it for ourselves. I am confident the film will be pretty good - yes of course we will hear 'Cut 'n' Paste' phrases, but that is because these phrases were actually used. It would be silly if we started to cringe just because the actor isn't a 'real' soulie. Surely you all must have noticed the 'scripted' interviews every time a new Block Buster comes out - "The Chemistry on set was just soooo special" - What a load of b*llox, but it sells!...Maybe I’m a cynic….. Best of luck with the Film is what I say; I am looking forward to seeing it All the best, Len
  3. This is my opinion — Of course they are acting! They are actors! Most will do this ‘job’ and then move on to the next one, whilst carrying on with whatever they do in their personal (real) lives. Chr*st, when Laurence Olivier played King Henry V he didn’t become a Knight did he? They’re actors, doing what they do — acting! There’s nothing to pick fault at, that is what I would expect because that is what they are being paid to do. …..Actually, Laurence Olivier did become a Knight didn’t he? ‘Sir’ Laurence Olivier — Doh! But you know what I mean Russ, I may be wrong, and all the actors from the film take the scene onto knew beginnings - But if they do, they need to rip up the rules and do it their way - hopefully a way we all absolutely disapprove of! All the best, Len
  4. Well I'm glad to hear it ......Was he the original 'Tea Pot'? N.B - I just want to reiterate that none of these descriptions are meant in a derogatory manner, they are simply describing dance moves with a little bit of laughing at ourselves (Which is healthy) I have 'done the Tea Pot' and 'Fisted the air' on many occasion! ....I have even done some of them there acrobatics in the past, because at that moment it just felt so right - God knows what it looked like, but it felt goooooooood!.....Until the next day, because I felt as if my 'back bone had slipped' - Literally! Len
  5. Don't go there mate, I wouldn't want to worry you. Len
  6. Oy! At no point has anyone ever said it was 'dodgy'! :D Len
  7. It always seems to 'work' better in the kitchen......and I'm not alone aye folks? Len
  8. Not sure who you wanted to answer this, but yes absolutely and have done so mate. This is where you get a 'burst' of adrenalin and bursting into acrobatics must have felt great for those that could (effortless) because it would have been the point at which the dancer 'released' (For want of a better word) I to think you're reading too much into 'The Wigan Walk' statement, I don't think it was meant as derogatory, I know exactly what he means. Even when I got into the Scene, it was wide spread. It was simply walking one way, clapping (sometimes) and then walking back the other way and repeat. There was nothing wrong with it, in fact, if I was to analyse my dancing (on a good day) If room, I still do a bit of that myself. The way Bryney described it 'The Wigan Walk' just tickled me that's all. All the best, Len
  9. Well I thought your description was dead on — Personally, I've always loved the 'Tea Pot' move especially if done in conjunction with lots of (As I describe) 'Praise The Lord' moves - I may be the only person who can make that ‘spiritual’ connection about these 'Bursts of joy', because I had to attend a 'very' evangelical church as a child....It hasn't affected me at all.....ahem....or should I say 'amen' Is it just me that has noticed this? But (naff that they are at our age) are the tunes that are used for Dance Competitions almost always bad choices? I mean 'The Delights - Lover' whether you love it or hate it; I struggle to see how anyone could dance 'well' to it. I’ve seen clips where people are doing acrobatics to it, and in their defence probably doing so, because they are in a competition and want to show their every move - but it looks like the film is out of sync with the sound. What makes it even worse is that they have most probably ‘given their all’ to the likes of ‘The Vibrations — Cause Your Mine’ (Good choice) along with something similar, so by that point, they must be pretty exhausted .....Yes, I think Mid-tempo dance completions are the future…..We could all ‘Do The Wigan Walk’ but slooooooower….. All the best, Len
  10.  ..."Those that know, know"..... All the best, Len
  11. Ooooh Terry you're so hurtful It's hard making friends when one is socially disabled like me - I should have my own All-nighter parking space near the door (Like Gilly seems to have) But yeh, you got a point - Who needs friends aye? They always end up being a pain in the *rse! All the best, Len
  12. N.B - I request we all stop calling ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ — ‘Strictly’ because it strengthens the brain washing procedure of the presumption that everyone ‘obviously’ watches it, so knows what ‘Strictly’ means. Thank you for your understanding. All the best, Len (Keepin’ it real) P.s — Work’s pretty quiet again…..
  13. Oh, no.........On me and my wife’s first date, Nina said to me (and I quote) "You do that thing with your leg”.…..I wasn’t quite sure what to make of such a comment - is she being complimentary or cleverly taking the p*ss? - It’s been a running joke for 15 years now I’m pretty sure we are talking about a different ‘Thing With My Leg’, not that I have fathomed what on earth she’s talking about to this day, but three of our friends have confirmed that I do ‘apparently’ do ‘That Thing With My Leg’ Barry, I’m afraid you need to be more specific mate. Please film yourself doing the said ‘Thing With Your Leg’ and post it up for us - Purely for the sake of the topic, we won’t laugh honest, you can leave your ‘Polished moves’ out on this occasion. If anyone that knows me, can relate to what Nina’s on about with ref my ‘Thing With My Leg’…..Please keep it to yourself, I’d rather not know! - Crumbs, I thought we had run out of Topic ideas, nice one mate! — Next up ‘That Thing With Your Arm’…. All the best, Len P.s — Barry, if you notice me doing ‘That Thing With My Leg’, I hope you like my version, as opposed to the one you refer to that you have stated your disapproval of
  14. Yeh, makes sense - It bought back memories of the effort that you used to have to put in to attend events, and that ‘effort’ is what added the little extra something. The same can be said for record collecting - Records can have that ‘little extra something’ if there has been a lot of effort put into getting it. Whether it be going to The States, finding out titles of records on tapes, sending wants lists out, or worst of all — Waiting years! That’s the down side of life now being so much easier - the ‘Magic’ gets lost - But hey, we’d all still choose the easier life wouldn’t we?! I remember (after resisting as long as we were able to) me and a mate having to eat some chips someone had thrown on the floor, because we had used up all our paper round money on travel and entrance fees, eating hadn’t even crossed our minds! Looking back it made that particular weekend extra special….. ......I can’t believe I just typed that out loud…. All the best, Len
  15. But why do you say that? I think it's down to personal choice - People pay their hard earned, blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah, blah, blah   Sorry, I have a 'reaction' as soon as 'O.V.O' is mentioned All the best, Len
  16. Ok, will do....God, I'm sad! - Actually, I think I've worked it out - I suspect, it's pointing one way slightly. All the best, Len
  17. Don't know it.....and I think I quite like it actually (Needed a couple of plays as you do sometimes) Also, if that was 'spliced' in at a nighter I recon it would work really well. All the best, Len
  18. Why does backwinding a record damage it? I sometimes do that when lining up a record and haven't had any problems so far, but I'm aware this can cause 'burn' - So how does backwind cause this? - You've just reminded me, I really shouldn't do it. All the best, Len
  19. Good question....I don't know the answer, I'm afraid. All the best, Len
  20. Records are extremely robust - I have had the same nail (needle) in my record player at home for years, it just needs a wipe every so often, when there gets so much fluff build up that it slides across the record All the best, Len
  21. I didn't know that - It's still The Dogs B*llocks I love it, always have All the best, Len
  22. ......This statement goes against everything I have ever ‘campaigned’ against….but…..”I’ve got one and I’ve had it years! - Na, na, na, na, na” Sorry, just couldn’t resist! All the best, Len
  23. £200.00! Sorry mate All the best, Len
  24. I do think, say 50 people would choose to go nearer home because it's easier regardless of the line-up, and just those 50 people can make all the difference to an event. People go on about ’freedom of choice', some even like ‘freedom of speech’ - I say ‘dictatorship’ is the way forward! All the best, Len P.s - Thanks for the 'Soul In The Bowl' plug
  25. …… But it’s been like this for years now and I can’t believe I’m discussing it again - Doh! Night night. Len
