  1. "Stone them to death!" All the best, Len
  2. Yep me too, I used also love reading Rudzi's (from Leicester) 'sales banter' on his lists, I've still got them somewhere. All the best, Len
  3. Wow, you're the first person I've met who has heard of this! - I got it in the mid 80's and tried to play it on the Mod Scene a couple of times, but it never really worked 'out' - It's a great record though. All the best, Len
  4. Personally, I think that would be a terrible thing for him to do, there’s a lot to be said for ‘keeping your own council’……Bit like myself - Ahem All the best, Len
  5. Here’s a couple of scenarios that are ‘the same, but oh so different’ I was guesting at ‘an event’ a few months back, I took The Tempests L.P to play ‘Someday’ as I knew that particular crowd loved it (and I could also use it as a ‘safety card’!) Anyway, the chap before me coincidently was playing it off a pressing — It didn’t bother me and I didn’t say anything, I’m sure if he’d known I had intended to play it, he wouldn’t have done — No big deal (It didn’t ruin my night) Now, I know of another time where (We’ll call him) ‘Mr X’ was guesting somewhere and a similar thing happened, the difference being that ‘Mr X’ was known for playing the record in question, I believe he actually played it again as a protest — This is when toes are trodden on. All the best, Len
  6. Gawd, what have I 're-started'?.....Ok, I'll try and answer - Obviously, this is just my take on it.....No one 'decides' who these D.J's are, it's a matter of personal opinion. Some D.J's to me have no original ideas what so ever, hence my term 'Cut 'n' Paste' D.J's. These sort may have some good records, but they can't normally put a decent set together, they just copy other D.J's -There's a fine line between copying and being influenced. I see these D.J's as having less integrity than some 'honest' bloke whacking a load of pressings on, full of passion, because he simply loves the music. Trouble is, the more we discuss it, the sillier it gets if you see what I mean. I prefer to still not give it to much thought - I know what I play and which D.J's I respect and that's all that matters to me. I hope that answers your question ok for you. All the best, Len
  7. He was being 'Ironical' mate. All the best, Len
  8. So much time has now passed, loads that were played then will be 'Newies' to a lot of people now. All the best, Len
  9. I thought it sounded 'Bretbyish'.....Sorry Cliff, looks like another of your's I'm 're-championing' - Take it as a compliment All the best, Len
  10. I'm also interested in when the term was first used - Back on topic - PHEW! All the best, Len
  11. This is where it all gets a bit complicated and almost impossible to explain. As I’ve said before, the more people go on about the issue, the more silly it sounds. If a D.J of integrity, plays the odd emidisc or even if he decided on a rare occasion to sling in the odd boot, it wouldn’t bother me as long as he considered what he was playing and wasn’t stepping on anyone’s toes. Put it this way, I wouldn’t get all upset over it and go home and sulk. If he’s got the passion, he’s a real D.J - I'd rather see this D.J than some 'Cut 'n' Paste' D.J. It can depend on where they are playing and who to etc. All the best, Len
  12. Mr Dopson......Oh actually it's Mr Dobson......Sooooo close All the best, Len 'D'
  13. - Great ender though, it just needs one of the Top Jocks to take a chance on it All the best, Len
  14. I just did a You Tube search for this and couldn't find a sound clip - This popped up instead! Great Mid-tempo Sorry guyz, I just cried with laughter - Was this played anywhere? Mmmmmm All the best, Len
  15. I'm not quite there yet, but I am finding I can handle it a bit easier than I used to.........People have got to know me now, so have stopped throwing things All the best, Len
  16. ...Or I stand corrected .....I was answering from my experience. All the best, Len
  17. As a complete guess, I would say 2005 onwards - But that's just a guess, others may say different. I'm not saying it didn't happen before then, but if it did it was a shock. I remember Dave Flemming coming up to me at The Embankment Club to let me know that one of the D.J's was playing a pressing of something he was going to play, I was shocked and a bit embarrassed - He was ok with it, as it was also a shock to him. There was no need to 'check' in those days you see, I just presumed the man in question played by the rules - Well I didn't even presume, I didn't give it a second thought. All the best, Len
  18. This came up a couple of years back, and I can categorically say Winston Heath coined the phrase. It was on a thread that kept repeating ‘Original Vinyl Only’, so on Winston’s next post he stated it like this - “Original Vinyl Only (O.V.O)” Then everyone ‘adopted’ it from there… ..... I have searched for the said thread, but to no avail I’m afraid. But thinking about it — It must have been the ‘Original, ‘Original Vinyl Only’ thread! Well done Winston As far as the actual policy for events goes, it was just one of the ‘unwritten rules’, the ‘norm’ if you like, it simply wasn’t an issue until quite recently. All the best, Len
  19. Is 're-activating' records ok on this thread? - I haven't heard this 'out' for years. This was also out on two labels - First release was on Baby Luv, second release on Era, still both originals, the Baby Luv one being the rarest. 'Othello Robinson - So In Love' Fantastic tune, I'd like to hear again in 2013. All the best, Len
  20. Great tune as is 'So Rare' on the same L.P - Would love to hear both 'out' lots more. Sorry, I couldn't find a clip of 'So Rare' All the best, Len P.s - I managed to completely clear the floor to 'Take A Stand' at The Pemberton Centre lol
  21. You haven't bought the 'wrong one' - They are both originals! It also came out on the British Action label. It's amazing that this record hasn't been massive, then died down, got massive again etc over the years, like for example 'The Exits - You've Got To Have Money' isn't it? All the best, Len
  22. Hi Boba, Yes, Mary Wells is the original and it's an L.P only track......If I'd heard the Mary Wells first, I'd be shouting about the Patti Drew! - You know how it is. Both are great. All the best, Len
  23. Maybe one more, not sure if this will be masssive though - It's 'massive' in my record room at least. Verble Domino - Faded Memory All the best, Len
  24. Ok, one more from me, I'll be playing it at 'The Den' next Saturday in Rushden (May speed it up very slightly) 'Mary Wells - He's The One I love' (Same record as Patti Drew) All the best, Len https://www.youtube....h?v=5DrUebUlsiQ
  25. Here's another that should have gone absolutely massive by now, I had it covered up for a while (For a bit of fun!) I suppose ‘September Jones - I'm Coming Home' took 'Centre Stage' over it, but this is so powerful 'BILLY SHA-RAE - DO IT' All the best, Len https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCtFOiTrH6Y
