  1. We were at The Ritz during the 90’s and Ginger walked past us, going towards the decks, Nina said “Is that Ginger Taylor?”….I replied “Mmmm, you may be right there…..he certainly looks like a Taylor doesn’t he?” (All 'dead pan' like) We were in fits for about half an hour — Brilliant! Ain’t it great when one is ‘on point’ at a Nighter?! All the best, Len
  2. Doh! - Someone beat me to it; sorry I'll read the whole thread before commenting. Len
  3. Apparently he used to wear a belt that the buckle was in the word 'Butch' - Chr*st I hope he doesn't read this, because knowing that is reeeeealy sad! I always thought it was for tax reasons — It also gives them a ‘Mystique’, but I don’t think they actually choose to use an alias for that reason, it just does (To me anyway) All the best, Len (‘D.J Lenard’)
  4. Have any of you actually taken the time to listen to J.L.S?.......I'm joking! All the best, Len
  5. I wouldn't say Eds image was comedy at all, because he's one of the originals - The comedy ones are the ones that never 'did it' in the first place and are 'playing the part' - I.M.H.O of course All the best, Len

Midnight Johnny is awesome, coincidently I planned on playing this 'out' this weekend and now I wil make sure I will. R.I.P Liz - We will be dancing to your memory. Len.
  7. I hope I didn’t come across as some Soul-source anal expert, I thought you would want to know as I would if I’d made such a ‘catastrophic’ error I to made a mistake once (Not sure what this icon means, but it's a rare one) All the best, Len P.s — Ref above folks, write down the titles of clips posted.
  8. 'Premium Stuff' posted it on Post Number 135 - I didn't know that version. Thanks for sharing anyway. All the best, Len
  9. Hi Alan, Are you talking about the 'unwritten' rule or was the actual term used back then? - I know it definitely went without saying. All the best, Len P.s - I was a mod
  10. It took me a few days to realise! - 'All About The Soul'...... All the best, Len P.s - And a ticking off.....
  11. The ones by IKON are Solatio 'style' whereas these ones are original Solatio - Not sure if any difference in the actual shoe, except I would imagine the 'Style' one's won't have 'Solatio' written on them. I expect there are other differences though, as most things that are only styled on something. All the best, Len
  12. I was under the impression there were two kinds, one high heel type which were not 'cool' and the other a lot more stylish - It's all 'Cobblers' anyway - "Boom Boom" All the best, Len
  13. Dur - That just took me a while to 'ged it' - Very good John, they'll keep ya feet as dry as your sense of humour mate! Have a goodun Sat. All the best, Len
  14. That's something I noticed about old flyers - Shame really because as time marches on, it's hard to remember, when, what, who? etc. All the best, Len
  15. "Stone them to death!" All the best, Len
  16. Yep me too, I used also love reading Rudzi's (from Leicester) 'sales banter' on his lists, I've still got them somewhere. All the best, Len
  17. Wow, you're the first person I've met who has heard of this! - I got it in the mid 80's and tried to play it on the Mod Scene a couple of times, but it never really worked 'out' - It's a great record though. All the best, Len
  18. Personally, I think that would be a terrible thing for him to do, there’s a lot to be said for ‘keeping your own council’……Bit like myself - Ahem All the best, Len
  19. Here’s a couple of scenarios that are ‘the same, but oh so different’ I was guesting at ‘an event’ a few months back, I took The Tempests L.P to play ‘Someday’ as I knew that particular crowd loved it (and I could also use it as a ‘safety card’!) Anyway, the chap before me coincidently was playing it off a pressing — It didn’t bother me and I didn’t say anything, I’m sure if he’d known I had intended to play it, he wouldn’t have done — No big deal (It didn’t ruin my night) Now, I know of another time where (We’ll call him) ‘Mr X’ was guesting somewhere and a similar thing happened, the difference being that ‘Mr X’ was known for playing the record in question, I believe he actually played it again as a protest — This is when toes are trodden on. All the best, Len
  20. Gawd, what have I 're-started'?.....Ok, I'll try and answer - Obviously, this is just my take on it.....No one 'decides' who these D.J's are, it's a matter of personal opinion. Some D.J's to me have no original ideas what so ever, hence my term 'Cut 'n' Paste' D.J's. These sort may have some good records, but they can't normally put a decent set together, they just copy other D.J's -There's a fine line between copying and being influenced. I see these D.J's as having less integrity than some 'honest' bloke whacking a load of pressings on, full of passion, because he simply loves the music. Trouble is, the more we discuss it, the sillier it gets if you see what I mean. I prefer to still not give it to much thought - I know what I play and which D.J's I respect and that's all that matters to me. I hope that answers your question ok for you. All the best, Len
  21. He was being 'Ironical' mate. All the best, Len
  22. So much time has now passed, loads that were played then will be 'Newies' to a lot of people now. All the best, Len
  23. I thought it sounded 'Bretbyish'.....Sorry Cliff, looks like another of your's I'm 're-championing' - Take it as a compliment All the best, Len
  24. I'm also interested in when the term was first used - Back on topic - PHEW! All the best, Len
  25. This is where it all gets a bit complicated and almost impossible to explain. As I’ve said before, the more people go on about the issue, the more silly it sounds. If a D.J of integrity, plays the odd emidisc or even if he decided on a rare occasion to sling in the odd boot, it wouldn’t bother me as long as he considered what he was playing and wasn’t stepping on anyone’s toes. Put it this way, I wouldn’t get all upset over it and go home and sulk. If he’s got the passion, he’s a real D.J - I'd rather see this D.J than some 'Cut 'n' Paste' D.J. It can depend on where they are playing and who to etc. All the best, Len
