  1. Yes you are 'right'.....but it's so 'wrong' I'm still surprised at it personally. All the best, Len
  2. Alright Win - You don't get out much do ya? (Just kidding, keep em coming mate) Loads of things / words / phrases that used to be quite cool, or meant something meaningful and deep are now cringe worthy. Unfortunately they have been hijacked - hence I have compiled a 'Shudder List'....it has now got to the point where I daren't speak to a mate that has also added a few to it - Our conversations now go....."Blah, blah, blah"....."No, Len, you can't say that anymore, remember?"......."Oh yeh sorry, blah, blah, blah,"......."Len, no!"......."Sorry"......blah, blah, blah".......etc......I've given up talking to him now because we're both so screwed up with it all All the best, Len K.F.C!
  3. FANTASTIC! Len
  4. Not 'off topic' really mate, the thread is about how different the Scene has become. I remember back in the 90's, when I booked D.J's I always had a long conversation telling them to 'do their thing', and that I couldn't give a sh*t about the dance floor - BEFORE anyone jumps on that - It was my way of 'pushing' them that little bit more to make them REALLY 'do their thing', because I meant it - Why would I hire anyone if I can do the same from my shelves? Back then places were more 'forgiving' mind - ridiculous using the word 'forgiving', because that is what it's all about. All the best, Len
  5. Noted - I'll add it to the 'Shudder List' mate. All the best, Len
  6. Me: "What does your crowd like to hear" Promotor: "Anything that's quality Dave, do your own thing". Me: "Great!" ....As usual - The promoters fault, but the D.J gets it in the neck. That's my take on it anyway. All the best, Len
  7. Brilliant - Good ol' Dave. Take it as a compliment mate - I do...........it's either that or cry All the best, Len
  8. Yes - 'Inclusive, not exclusive'.....'tis our motto mate, and it works a treat All the best, Len
  9. You are so right! - The other week I was working on a set, playing some 'beautiful Mid-tempo' number, Nina shouts from the living room......"Christ Len, is that a record or a Hymn?!" .....I kid you not........She knows nothing I tell you! Fun, fun, fun All the best, Len
  10. I've had worse All part of the 'fun' Len
  11. .......Isn't that another Charity do? ........You'll never make 'everyone happy' I'm afraid Carms Len
  12. Don't be scared, they don't bite mate - well most don't! 'Heal from within' is also a phrase used by someone (Nick Clegg on Europe I think) 'Heal' may be the wrong word in this case, 'change' (for everyone's benefit) would fit better - Here in Northants we have done just that, everyone getting involved - we are now at the stage where most people respect each others different views, and more importantly we are all listening to different music from different era's, one being the very early Northern that Glen Bellamy is bringing to the table as resident at 'Soul in the Bowl'. Also, loads from the main room at least visit 'The Den' at some point in the evening. We're never gonna get rid of the rivalry, no one seems to wants to - but we have turned it into fun! All the best, Len
  13. That's better Chalky - Aye Ted? See you on the 26th All the best, Len
  14. I know what you mean, and agree to a point - For me it depends who has written it / if it keeps my interest. Meaning, if 'someone' has written long posts and not kept my interest a few times, then I have that fact 'noted', whereas on the other hand, some posters I have 'noted' as always keeping my interest, and I look forward to what they have to say (no matter how long the post) But yes where possible, I prefer 'short, sharp and snappy' (I don't like 'stating the ble*ding obvious' posts) All the best, Len
  15. I didn't.......but that's only 'cause I don't like the record Opinions, opinions, opinions Len
  16. I was just about to type.......When I used to leave my house at Midnight as 'The Pub People' were coming home, to meet Rob Leach to go to The 100 Club - I thought that was pretty underground. Nice one Ady (whoever you are) All the best, Len
  17. Well said. Len
  18. Same here - Soul is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo last year Len
  19. The 'next' youth culture will be (is) something I won't understand - The way it should be I suppose Len P.s - Now stop talking to me - I know you
  20. Oxymoron springs to mind - All-nighters can't be good for our health surely? I agree with what you say - especially the bit about etiquette. I just hope one day real youth culture returns in one form, well for the youths (as it's special) All the best, Len
  21. Leave it as a public message - I followed it word for word mate. Nice one. All the best, Len
  22. 'like' Night folks - looking forward to tomorrow's pointless discussions All the best, Len
  23. I know what you mean Alison, I've been a 'Crying Clown' many times......... .......Seriously though - sadly many of who I see as the scene do feel like this at times, and as 'Tricky' pointed out, lot's of those did leave in the 80's......but there's still lots of us left - and we'd miss you if you were 'Gone' (See, I did getcha) All the best, Len P.s - I've nearly caught up, and I officially ran out of likes at Alison's post, so anyone after that - consider yaself 'liked'....In other words - I am enjoying the thread
  24. "No, I'm Spartacus!" .......Doh! Tw*t. tw*t, tw*t!!! ...Edit - I now hate you Steve G........ .....still catching up folkz Len
