  1. Ok, maybe I am being a bit positive / wishful thinking - It has been like you have described for a long time, and I was thinking / hoping that things are a changing......Maybe slightly aye? There does seem to be a positive vibe about at the moment, and I do think that Life-line and places like it are at least now being looked at by these people. All the best, Len
  2. Has it? .......You probably missed a discussion where some people said it was a dance floor killer (That's why Ted said he had sold his), and that there was not a lot about the record, so I understand how that may have come across to you (I completely disagreed) I know it's been around for years - To me it's one of my tape sounds that filtered down from guys like you - not sure where or when it was first played, and would be interested. All the best, Len
  3. What is good about great venues is that they have their own identity. I never went to Middleton so can’t comment on any comparisons with Life-line, but I’m thinking the main comparison you are making is the excitement of it, inspired by what was a fantastic All-nighter Sat night - Great stuff All the best, Len P.s - Never forgetting The 100 Club ‘chugs away’ as strongly as ever.
  4. Yes - I think ten years on from when the 'returnees' um, 'returned', people have realised that these folk ain't stupid - They came back, enjoyed what they used to do, and are now looking for 'something else' - The very thing that attracted them to the scene in the first place! Long may it continue - TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER! All the best, Len
  5. Is that a dare? ......Can you imagine if he did?......and it 'worked'?!!!......The record may very well go to the 'dizzy heights' of £7.50!!! Hey - He showed us all how to play 'Romona Collins - You've Been Cheating' at Life-line didn't he now? So.....if ya reading this Butch......I'll leave the thought with you .......I still recon he would be able to do it All the best, Len
  6. Damn - Got me again! .......You will be stopped Len
  7. So predictable Len
  8. I do except there is a difference between what can be played at a Soul Night compared to an All-nighter. Like any record, it all depends where you are / who the crowd is etc. Some can and do dance to tunes like these - in other situations, some like to be out to just listen and enjoy. All the best, Len P.s - I bet (If he wanted to) Butch could 'splice' it in, and keep the floor going when playing some of his slower stuff (Especially at The 100 Club)
  9. Hi mate, No I didn't know this - Nice one, thanks. I'll be playing 'The Festivals' at Boomerang on 23rd November - So folks, feel free to pop along to enjoy it with me (or throw things at me!) All the best, Len
  10. Bit of a complicated question I must say. An honest answer from me - I did my best to bring the music I heard when travelling to my local area, and believe that has changed some local peoples attitudes in a positive way - I was lucky to have bought almost every D.J that I respect / enjoy to sunny Wellingborough at a time when the scene (to me) was really special. But 'as a whole' there are loads of things that shape the scene (both in a good way, and a bad way) All the best, Len P.s - My taste isn't the same as the majority, it is influenced by my own history, which matches others of course.
  11. Done!.....Hang on, no.....it's 'buy low, sell high'.......I keep getting that mixed up....... ........Well maybe......if you find a buyer for the other record.......hang on (again)......um......there's no profit there is there? I'd be just like a proper Record Dealer - Doing it for love Len
  12. The cost of records is, and always has been irrelevant to me - When D.Jing, if I have a £1,000.00 record on one deck, and a £5.00 record on the other, I see them both 'averaged out' to £502.50 each All the best, Len
  13. .....So it's just the ladies that like my type of tunes......Terry's gonna have a field day Damn, damn, damn Len
  14. At last - A man with taste! Len
  15. "I will never give up!"......He simply has to be stopped You're 'one of us' Steve Len P.s - I did like the phrase Irish came up with, describing us as 'The Tempo Twins'
  16. Me and you have very different 'histories', so are obviously influenced differently. I know if the two tunes that I posted above were played at The 100 Club (in my days there at least) the dance floor would have been packed - So in my opinion they are both dance tunes that sound fantastic at the right moment.......For me - at 4.00am......For you - in the car on the way home.....just before you sling the C.D out of the window! I like your opinions though - Keep em coming (Need not that I ask you to!) All the best, Len
  17. .......I was 'Bracing' myself for something Terry Len
  18. Good man - 'Soul in the Bowl' is where it's at! Sorry Jocko - Couldn't resist All the best, Len
  19. I know some may think 'The Festivals' track isn't a dancer (I disagree) So here's one that I think more would like. ‘Lee Williams - It’s Everything About You’ All the best, Len https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQOHZZo7QRs
  20. I suppose I better put my 'head on the block' as I gave my opinion on the last two records...... ......This is my 'Heaven'.......Just TRY and imagine it being 'spliced' in at the right time (and that everyone liked it!) 'The Festivals - You Got The Makings Of A Lover' Enjoy! (I'll get me coat) All the best, Len https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUWV1qhlt6Y
  21. I call that 'Gotcha Gotcha' Soul - I like it (but not all night) It certainly keeps a place 'going' - I'll give Gordon that. I didn't like 'The Majestics - Strange World' at all (My 'difference' I was talking about Terry) Just opinions guys All the best, Len
  22. Adam has been playing 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' for years, and always when it was right to play it - The greatest record on a Sunday night at Cleethorpes All the best, Len
  23. .....and I thought I was alone on that one Len P.s - Welcome back Terry - We missed ya
  24. Me and Nina's Wedding record that - A 'tune and a half' All the best, Len P.s - Followed by 'Jackie Wilson - Because of You' - Floor 'suddenly' rammed with folk 'itching to dance'.....for some 'strange' reason
  25. A few words about ‘Sooty’……… Sooty is a f*ckin’ good salesman / businessman - I love it when he says his soul nights were a sell out every month, and the All-nighters had 1000 people! (They were very busy mind) ……This (as you called it Chalky) ‘bravado’ works with some people (the masses) I have never met anyone like Sooty before ref his ‘selling’ - he tackles it with an ‘American Selling’ approach, and gets results (to a point) .......The only thing that lets him down slightly (meant in the nicest possible way) is his lack of history, which isn’t a criticism, it’s just a fact that he always points out to people - at least he’s not trying to tell folk (or believing himself) that he is, or ever was a ‘Top’ D.J……It was funny as hell to see Sooty ‘bounce around’ the Soul Scene - some people really couldn’t handle his ‘bold’ approach - It was against the rules! If anyone can ‘bring it all together’ Sooty can, but I do think it is a tall order, even for him…..But I’m sure he will be doing his ‘home work’ on what has changed since he last ‘appeared’ Good luck Sooty - You’re gonna need it All the best, Len P.s - Ref his posts - I have had many say this and similar to me (and I quote)........"I find his posts an absolute scream"
