  1. Yup, the original reason for travelling was to hear tunes you wouldn't hear otherwise, and yes that reasoning is basically behind us (In comparison) Nowadays the attraction of traveling has changed to going somewhere for a different experience (not necessarily musically) 'tis for me anyway Len P.s - Obviously I don't want to hear a load of ol' sh*te if I'm 'out 'n' about' though
  2. I was chatting to someone last week, and he asked where I'd been lately. I told him I'd been up to New Century Soul at Bury Town Hall, also about other plans I had 'afoot'. He kinda 'grimaced', and said......."It's a shame it's so far"....... The ol' boy I was speaking to is a great bloke, and has been on the local scene for a very long time. I tried to explain why I actually like going to places a far, I said that part of the experience is being somewhere you are not used to being (almost another world!).......I suppose the people that actually live near the places we travel to don't get that added 'magic', but of course they get that when they themselves travel to places afar (from them) A bit of a muddled paragraph that - I'm trying to say that there is a point to travelling fair distances (Or we wouldn't do it) Len
  3. I like the instrumental - The other side of the multi coloured one (That's what I have anyway) Listen to it all the way through, it's brilliant Len
  4. Let's say the time it was released (Unless Jem comments otherwise of course) Len
  5. I think Jem was asking - Among all our 'acquired taste' tunes (to the outside world that is), which tunes do you think would appeal to the general public, but sadly (not due to lack of talent), never got the appreciation they deserved. Forget people doing covers (and ruining the tunes) Simply - What tunes do you think would appeal to the general public in their original form (sound-wise) ((Some we like, they simply would not)) All the best, Len P.s - Jem understands the 'keep it underground' bit
  6. Yes, it was just an 'out of interest' thing really, am obviously aware there are many other clubs that were / are really good, The hand full I put up are a cross section of the years. Point taken ref younger people could only tick The 100 Club. I thought it would be interesting to read peoples' comparison views if they have attended more than one of those venues listed. All the best, Len
  7. Good point. Len
  8. You can now tick more than one box.......and discuss - Let's go! Len
  9. Nothing dubious mate - (From Google) Metrosexual - A heterosexual urban man who enjoys shopping, fashion, and similar interests traditionally associated with women or homosexual men. ......that's me that is - Not sure what the 'interests traditionally associated with' are - But I like shopping / and fashion (my own that is)...... No wonder the wife (Nina) loves me Great word though init? Len
  10. Probably?!!! Len
  11. This is the last one not on the list that I'll answer! Good choice (go to 'multi-choice') Len
  12. ......and 'which one did you prefer and why?'....Take it away guys ......You're supposed to be going by the ones on the list...... Len Arrrr - That be easier Len
  13. Oh god!......."Mike, about my notice......" Well, any other poll ideas - PM me (If still employed) Len Oh b*gger! Just go by the list!......um.......this is only part one Len P.s - I almost forgot to include The 100 Club (Don't tell Ady)

  15. Looks ok to me - But I could be wrong Len
  16. Here’s another one for you - Some of these polls will be stronger than others, but hoping they generate interesting topics of conversation. There are a few ready, but if any of you have an idea for a future poll you think would be of interest, please PM me, and I’ll add it to the list Ref this poll - If you went to more than one of these classic venues which were they, which did you prefer, and why? Cheers, Len
  17. That's me that is! Len
  18. It can do, but another meaning is - First time I've heard this Len
  19. This thread is just a bit of light-hearted banter - Let's keep it that way Cheers, Len
  20. "Leonard"........ Another word Nina (Bless her again) uses - I know I'm in trouble when that gets used General forum - I dunno, you may be right, I'm new to this moderating malarkey Len Yeh, let's go there Len
  21. Hi Phil, 'Like', I'm not sure what you created here - It now seems a bit 'far removed' from 'All about the soul' (I blame Dave Rimmer) May need to move this to freebasing, but will leave 'as is' for now (being as it's making us all laugh) Nice one 'Buddy' Len
  22. Reminds me of Eddie Izzard talking about that - The first man on the moon explains what it's like being there........"It's awesome!"......."Eh? Sausages are awesome, can it be as good?" The overuse of the word! Len
