  2. Are you sure? Len
  3. Yeh it was big a good few years back, great record! It was played at most places so I think people recognized it. It's weird how tunes like this disappear off play lists at the same time. Another one that has been 'awol' for a while is 'Cookie Scott & The Chevelles - I Don't Care' (Great B side as well 'Misled') This particular one was hammed though so takes the edge off I suppose. Hence it's great when they get reactivated when the time is right. (Another one that springs to mind is 'Vanguards - Good Times Bad Times') What a tune! All the best, Len
  4. Brilliant tune - I'm gonna dig mine out again. Cheers. Len
  5. NEWBY & JOHNSON - I Want To Give You My Everything Fantastic record Len
  6. Crackin' init? I'm sure the thread will get back on track.......if I stop typing........ Len
  7. Right folks, below is the said version of 'Got To Get You Into My Life' Let me know what you think / who you think it is. I really like it, and if as a result of this thread I finally find out who sang it AND got it somehow, that would end my 30 year search! Thanks in advance for your help. All the best, Len 01 Got to get you into my life.mp3
  8. Finally!........After going through a load of stuff up in me loft / then searching through 5 drawers of old tapes, I found the b*stard! Typical that it was in the last row of the last drawer that I was going through! It was actually quite nice going through those drawers (that don't sound right) I came across really old tapes that have been given to me over the years of which contained little notes along with the play lists......."Hope there's something new to you Len etc"........ Lots of live tapes as well - It reminded me that there is a 'world' of exciting stuff in our collective tape archives I have found someone who can make me a sound file of this version of 'Got To Get You Into My Life' from my tape (The genius that is Steve Scotney) So 'watch this space' I'll be back shortly.......... Len
  9. Thanks for all the input folks, it made for really nice reading. I've been a bit busy of late, but will sort the next 'Spot-light On' soon - Keep those suggestions coming in All the best, Len
  10. Always liked this. Len
  11. Agree with it standing up ok with the others (But not the one I want) We may come up trumps, if not I will try and dig out the said tape.....then ask how the heck to put a sound clip up from it - You will be blown away I promise Len
  12. No not this one either - Crumbs how many are there?! Cheers. Len
  13. No again I'm afraid - It had more 'ooooomph' Thanks anyway Len
  14. 'Profundities' Len
  15. No Sorry 'Conchitta' - I seem to have taken over your thread (I should have done this separately) Hey ho, as long as you don't mind (These all being different versions at least) Len
  16. Len
  17. No / Thanks for the clip Roburt. Len
  18. See answers above in bold. It had strong horns, and a really powerful female singer, almost screaming it (in a good way) at times - I can't tell you how good it was. Thanks for efforts - I'm still checking Len
  19. I like that 'Susan Maughan - That Other Place' (I think I still have it actually) This may be the wrong way round, but for years, and I mean years! I have been trying to find out who did a different version of 'Baby Dolls - Got To Get You Into My Life'. I don't actually like the 'Baby Dolls' one - I had a really storming Northern version (Oh yeh - 'Banger') of it on a tape I got mid 80's entitled 'Newies' In actual fact, I have bought the one I didn't want twice! If anyone can help on this I will kiss you! All the best, Len NOT THIS ONE!
  20. £1,000000.00 and I'll consider Tom Good luck mate (Great record) Len
  21. God you may be right I'm sort of having a weeks holiday (working from home first week of School hols) Yesterday AND today I thoroughly enjoyed 'the moment' of eating a sausage sandwiche in the garden, and am already looking forward to tomorrows' 'happy snack'......I hope it doesn't turn in to a problem Len
  22. I stand corrected - I don't come on Soul-source much so missed it Len
  23. I've never seen the word used, only a 'banging' night (which means 'fantastic') I hope you're not telling 'porkies' (Ged it?) All the best, Len
  24. One more from me (My brain's gone all 'Roger') Another great tune I associate Roger with is this - He's the only DJ I've heard / noticed play it, and he made it sound even better by doing his 'Fist Dance' behind the decks Beautiful..... Len 'Faye Crawford - What Have I Done Wrong'
  25. One lovely afternoon I was standing outside Buckingham Palace (of all places) with my young family in tow, and my phone went, it was Roger. I thought what the devil does he want? I answered, he was crying with laughter, after he composed himself, he explained that he had not only cracked up at my latest flyer, but also at the fact that people were questioning him as to why he was giving the said flyer out! This particular flyer had the wording......"R 'n' B stinks"......super imposed on a badge worn by the chosen artist - Roger, thanks for having a sense of humor! Len P.s - After having that flyer given back to me several times, sometimes in an aggressive manor (Slammed in to my chest).........I put the very next flyer out with....."R'n'B still stinks"......super imposed on a badge worn by the chosen artist - It was just a joke (like on 'Top Gear') Len
