  1. So rare it doesn't exist! Len
  2. I can't seem to find it - If you get the You Tube Clip up, highlight the bar at the top of the web page - Right click your mouse, left click 'copy', then open a new post on this thread, right click your mouse then click 'paste', then the You Tube clip will appear on your post. People can then just click and listen on here. I've probably over complicated this - Just trying to help Len
  3. Can you put the You Tube link to it on this thread? Len
  4. Good point! I could do, but......"We don't talk anymore!" (Hence the 'X') Len
  5. Years back I bought 'Jack Montgomery - Don't Turn Your Back On Me' for £200.00..........Queue the (X) Mrs........"That could have been a new fridge freezer!".........She was right of course, we were young newly weds and blo*dy skint - Do I regret it? Na! (I believe the said record is still at £200.00, but not bothered about that one bit) Yeh, we are addicted / and open to be conned if that's what you want to call it. As someone mentioned earlier, this collecting thing is a human trait, it would be interesting to know what makes us so obsessive about it (whatever one collects) We can be completely blinded when chasing that special something (records in this case) Record dealers must have real fun with us (especially at nighters) Len
  6. I remember seeing it on Mick Smiths' list for £50.00 back around that time, I went crazy! Up until then it was an impossible record, and I was so pleased to get it. Yes, a truly great record, and is one that is a 'keeper', hence it's doing well on the value front. Len
  7. Just seen 'russoul1' is now 'russoul2' ! Here's his new profile - /profile/38636-russoul2/?wr=eyJhcHAiOiJmb3J1bXMiLCJtb2R1bGUiOiJmb3J1bXMtY29tbWVudCIsImlkXzEiOjM2MzkxNiwiaWRfMiI6MjMxMTI5Nn0= Len
  8. The Volumes has just been put up for auction. Here's the link - Len
  9. I'm pretty sure Russ (russoul1 on here) was selling one not long ago (I could be wrong, but worth a try) Here's his profile to send a message. /profile/3673-russoul1/?wr=eyJhcHAiOiJjYWxlbmRhciIsIm1vZHVsZSI6ImNhbGVuZGFyLWNvbW1lbnQiLCJpZF8xIjo0MTk0MywiaWRfMiI6MTI3ODY3fQ== Good luck! Len

  11. The CODs - A great tune Gilly (I spin it too) Len
  12. Hi Dianne, I'm pretty sure I have one - Will PM you with a price. All the best, Len
  13. But surely the vegan would at least try the steak if it was 'rare' Len
  14. This is a very serious matter Len
  15. See you in 'The Kenwood Suite' at New Century Soul on Boxing day - It'll all be explained! HAPPY CHRISTMAS FOLKZ Len
  16. They do care about the people that come to dance / Yes, they are happy to see 3 or 4 people dancing, whist others are enjoying listening to the DJs' choices / It has nothing to do with Original vinyl, they are just tunes the DJ wants to share with others (I wish some would remind themselves of that point) Doing so is a very difficult job nowadays because that 'hunger' for hearing tunes one doesn't know is diminishing (on the whole) A crying shame to me. To anyone out there trying to share the enjoyment they personally get from their records - STICK WITH IT! Some of us do still appreciate it. This creativity is what keeps it going! All the best, Len
  17. I don't think there is ever a point where enough is enough 'the end'. Some of us are 'worse' than others, but I know some collectors that 'want that next tune' before the one they've just bought gets delivered! Personally, I don't buy any where near as many records / tunes as I used to as I am content with what I have, to enjoy, and (like you) discover once again tunes I have but forgot I had. I hope the above makes sense All the best, Len
  18. Well I'm flattered it was at least once there Len
  19. Lack of attendees goes back to what has been discussed many times (Too many events / people ratio) Although more and more people are coming on to the scene, so some don't do too bad (numbers wise anyway) I too am sometimes 'puzzled' at what I hear out and about.....Not sure about the ego bit - It used to be banded about that DJs playing tried and tested to a packed dance floor was the ego trip, and now it seems that has been 'flipped on its' head' to be aimed at DJs playing lesser known stuff that may empty the dance floor every so often (which comes with the territory). I wouldn't say looking across an empty dance floor hoping 'to god' that people appreciate the said tune and understand what the DJ was attempting to do is by any means an ego trip (You may have witnessed something a bit different to what I have described though) Yup defo loads of oldies that aren't really known to the masses - There may be the odd 'newie' that really stands out, but some are either 'as good', or just pretty good but still worth playing in the interests of um keeping it interesting (When compared to the awsome tunes we have listened to over the years) All the best, Len P.s - If anyone's going to New Century Soul at Bury town hall next Saturday, pop in to The Kenwood Suite - You'll witness me clearing the dance floor, Bob Hinsley clearing the dance floor, and Simon Ingham positively dying on his *rse - Great night though
  20. I quite like it See ya next Sat Paul Len
  21. I'll take that as a compliment Len
  22. A 'proper' job Len
  23. You stayed in too last night then - Maybe we should go out more and get practicing .......For chr*st's sakes 'Soul-source', I'm meant to be welding here at work today not discussing dance moves! Len
  24. True - But my comment was from 'gut instinct' Poor bloke - he didn't ask for all this attention (It is complimentary mind) Len
  25. It's a pleasure to see someone that happens to look pretty graceful when 'doing their stuff'. The first time I saw unique, yet 'Northern' style dancing was when I was in my teens at Cliff Steeles' 'Detroit Academicals' Soul event at a place called 'Friendlys'. This bloke had that 'Mick Hucknell' look, he was almost bent double for lots of his dancing - He was so into it, facial expressions, his feet doing all sorts, (and his long fringe somehow also adding something to it) To some people he may have looked a bit strange, but I remember being absolutely mesmerized by it. I guess that must have been 'Proper Dancing' All the best, Len
