  1. Yes do - I'm intrigued! Len
  2. I remember one night he said to me..."Come and meet my other half"....He led me across the car park to meet his beloved dog, which was waiting patiently for him in his car . He was a lovely bloke was Mark. Very sad news indeed. R.I.P mate. Len 'n' Nina x
  3. Deep down I know this statement must (somehow) be correct….But…...…..I honestly can’t understand anyone not utterly agreeing with my taste in music - I actually think there must be something wrong with them if they don’t. Does that make me a bad person? Len
  4. Great idea for a thread Peter - We can now see 'who's who'! I'm convinced I know some people pretty well through this 'site', yet wouldn't recognize them on 'sight' Here's another one - I'm the one giving the current tune a 'thumbs up' Len
  5. Thanks for that info - I have a 'Sh*t shelf'......I'm forever finding stuff on it that I now seem to like It would be interesting if you went through that 'Sh*t Box' of yours today. As in, wondering if your personal taste has somewhat changed since back then. All the best, Len
  6. Love em both, but in a 'nighter situation' I'd say Ernest Mosley pips it! Len
  7. Same here - But it's great when old tunes get a new lease of life. It makes you appreciate them once again......or regret selling them Len
  8. Great tune, not heard it out for years, hence some may not know it - That's the case for a lot of those 'used to get played' tunes. As you say, surprising sometimes, but makes sense if a tune has been 'shelved' as they say. All the best, Len
  9. Voting seems similar to the buying vinyl in 2018 Poll (Maybe somewhat linked) Thanks for votes so far. All the best, Len
  10. As always, related comments welcome. People are at different stages of life of course, and that can reflect the above. Personally, I go out a lot less nowadays due to wanting to spend as much time as poss at home with the kids / and my work has finally taken off, so my priorities have naturally changed. The trouble is though, if you actually ‘stop’ going out, I think it takes some doing to make the effort to bother again (The years fly by) Others will have different reasoning behind their votes. All the best, Len
  11. Sort of - My neighbor now knows a lot of my tunes. Well mostly......"I enjoy when you play your records Len, but you never play them to the end!"....... (Too keen to get the next one on) Len
  12. An auction record was pretty scarce 20 - 25 years ago. You would see one or two on a record list only every so often. Agree, it's surprising to see some records up for auction - But in the defense of the sellers, it must work, and they're not a charity, they're doing just as I do with metal work - I get as much as I possibly can (That's not greed, just business) Len
  13. To me 'eddiefoster', what makes a good set, is individual creative thinking in ref to what someone chooses to play, playing them 'in context', so connecting with the dancers / listeners. "Wow haven't heard this for years!" (etc) Len P.s - Playing SOUL music helps
  14. Dave Greet at Life-line some years back - I think every single one of his choices got a huge cheer / round of applause! Len
  15. Hi Neal, From a financial perspective, I think now is a pretty good time, and I'm sure lots will agree, some records you can't put a price on now because there are buyers about that will pay good money and some for something they want that is hardly ever seen up for sale. But it's not all about the money! Although one has to be able to afford to keep a collection if some items are worth a lot. As in, if you need something to live, it's silly sitting on a record (Although fully understandable of course) I've thought about selling, but just can't do it (yet). I do so when I haven't played my records for a while because of being busy with other things (Family, work etc). I wonder if I would miss them after not playing them for (what seems) so long. Then one evening I whack on a tune, then another, then another....It then makes complete sense NOT TO SELL! Hope that helps All the best, Len
  16. Hi Stephen, If you click 'Following' (top right of page) ((Although now you have posted you automatically 'follow' anyway)) You should now get a notification if someone adds a post - If you click on that notification, you will autocratically be sent to that last post (rather than to the beginning of the thread) Hope that helps. All the best, Len
  17. Edit - Now sorted. If anyone has ‘Paul Smith - I’ll Run' (Jacklyn) Let me know please. Thanks! Len
  18. Pete's reffering to Face Book Moderators - We're far more tolerant here This thread's going a bit 'off-topic', with talk of cutting machines / what is Northern Soul? etc but hey ho Len
  19. Someone got a good deal on 'Frank Howard - Judy' (It ended at £112.00) A fantastic record, and quite a hard one I think. Len
  20. Hi Mick, I've seen you DJ on many occasions, and your style of no talking / mixing them in, works well - I've also seen DJs try to do the same, but for some reason (the 'magic') it ends up being background music. At that point, I wish they would 'break it' with a bit of chat, even if just to say what they're playing. If the floors going well, then fine, but if nothing's happening, a quick comment can do wonders. Again, depending on the people there (We all have different personalities) Your own style is the key I suppose. I think we've gone somewhat 'off-topic' 'heartandsoulktf' hey ho Len
  21. I generally talk every 3 records, depending on what I'm playing (and on the people there) And I talk fast, so no one understands a word anyway Len
  22. I can understand that. But to me, using the mike isn't 'out' dated. If a DJ is shouting maybe about what he paid for said tune or something, then that can come across a bit wrong, but if they're genuinely passionate about what they're saying, that will come across as a positive. Len
