  1. I've started a set with 'Teddy Randazzo - You Don't Need A Heart' before - It didn't totally destroy the dance floor and mood (Much to my disappointment) (Referring to another tune usually seen as an 'ender') Len 'Teddy Randazzo - You Don't Need A Heart'
  2. You can completely plan a set if you so wish, as long as you are capable of making changes that work if needs be (Which is usually inevitable) Whatever works for you All the best, Len
  3. How dare you! That is also a good side - Many times I've bought records, which follow a comment from the seller......"Len, people normally buy that for the other side"....... Len
  4. Funny story attached to that play - I thought it a tad 'risky', so I spliced it in straight after Terry Callier (No talking on the mike between) I was too scared to look at the reaction, so I turned round to my record box and whispered to Simon Ingham....."Si, Si, are they dancing?" He cracked up....."Yes they are Len" Of course they were - It was Bury. Get yaselves down there this year to their Boxing Day All-nighter, it's always a 'cracker' (Pun intended) Len
  5. As per below ('Proven' at The Bury All-nighter Main Hall Boxing Day 2017) It didn't 'follow' the last DJ (who was doing just fine) as mentioned above. The last DJ was playing good 'nighter' sounds - So I put a stop to that Len 'Terry Callier - Ordinary Joe' 'The Sophisticates - I Need You' 'Terri Bryant - Geni'
  6. It is nice selling them to another 'good home', in the knowledge said person will get the same enjoyment you have had from them. Soppy lot ain't we? Len
  7. Interesting, and fully understand your mourning. It may sound weird to some, but presently I feel it's a bit ugly owning 'thousand pound sounds' (Probably to do with having a young family to finance) Yeh, I know it was never about the money, and most of my records I will keep as I still play em / going off in to my very own 'Never Never Land', and will do that for as long as I can get to the record player I feel for anyone who has to sell, as I believe that hurts a little bit more so than selling at a time when one doesn't necessarily need the cash, but thinks that cash may as well be used for something extra All the best, Len
  8. Hi Peter, If you need cash, I'd say sell as a job lot as recommended by Steve - Not sure of the percentage loss, but I guess you would get 60% of the value, and I believe Chris is a trustworthy guy. Funnily enough, I don't 'need need' the cash, but lately I have been thinking of having a bit of a clear out to fund a holiday to America for my family. It just seems silly that I could do that in exchange for a handful of plastic. If I do choose a few, they will be 'priced not to sell' though - Who knows what certain records are really worth? Best of luck in raising some funds mate. All the best, Len P.s - What's with the "Serious replies please" ? I found that extremely hard to deal with
  9. No one - But both can put you 'on a level'.......apparently Len
  10. Ditto Welcome to the site grahame c. All the best, Len
  11. I'm not so sure that this wash of boot leg playing DJs exist - Maybe there's some in back of a pub type dos here and there. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Len
  12. It was 'that particular night' - Sorry about that Len
  13. Which one is real though? Len
  14. I getcha - So basically selling said records to lots of people for £6.00 each. The fraud of originals is out there though isn't it? Len
  15. Oh ok - Glad it wasn't anything to do with me, even if unbeknownst. The way it was asked got me suspicious for some reason, I suppose I thought it may have been for a single carver - I've only ever let people scan records for good reason (Article, Flyer, CD or what have you) Len
  16. Hip replacements I'd hazard a guess. Len
  17. Presume the two that got suspended sentences was because of being first offences. I got asked by one of them to borrow my 'The Parisians - Twinkle Little Star' because he wanted a decent scan of the label. I wasn't aware of why, but something didn't feel right, so I didn't oblige (Not sure if this record got counter-fitted) What records do we know have been counter-fitted by them? Be good to have them listed for people to be aware. So, have people been buying them for £6.00 from these guys, then selling them as originals for said value? Len
  18. Hi Neal, Welcome to Soul-source mate. You may want to check your spelling of 'Rhythm' - I Only point it out because I spelled it wrong on my huge banner of 'The Wollaston Rhythm and Soul Club' back in the 80's, and all these years later I still get stick from Mace about my 'poor spelling' Enjoy! All the best, Len
  19. Yup Sam's another one who is still on top of his game - All these years later! Len
  20. Did any of them stand out for you, or were they all pretty bob on? All the best, Len
  21. Lots have been brilliant over the years, but 'top of their game' doesn't last forever for some, which isn't a dig, just natural - It's very hard to be at one's peak for years. God knows how Butch does it, that takes some motivation! Len
  22. Karl was certainly at 'the top of his game', doesn't DJ much now though - He soon commanded a lot of respect from loads of people during his time. I'm glad Mike said in 2018 in his opening post, so we don't get a list of DJs we all know / have been mentioned before. There's lots of DJs doing it in 2018, and I for one would be interested if any really stand out for anyone, as in, are unique, have something about them that separates them from the rest. It doesn't necessarily mean a new or young DJ, just someone you think are at their peak (which can take years) Len
  23. That's fair enough, whereas I find most of these types a lotta fun - That's a compliment to you jez jones Len
  24. Exactly! Len
