  1. I enjoy any D.J that has his own identity, what's the point of D.Jing records that are played by many? You may as well get on that dance floor instead! All the best, Len.
  2. Yes, I to have memories, genuine ones at that and no 'Rose tinted glasses' in sight. Rock Street Youth Club? - Chr*st, I can't believe you mentioned that place Terry! I actually went there once (Or maybe twice...) Didn't feel comfortable in my parka surrounded by Body Poppers though - Yes, this was the 80's folks! All the best, Len.
  3. mmmm mmmm mmmmm mmmmmmm mmmm mmmm mmmmm mmmmmmm mmmmmmm ... .......No, sorry, can't see it myself....I know, I know, 'you never know'... All the best, Len.
  4. Exactly! - Memories, to me the badges and memberships I've kept are souvenirs that act as reminders to where I've been over the years, I will hopefully look through them when in the old people's home. I think in the 'old days' (70's) it was kind of fashionable to wear patches etc, pretty sure I remember people wearing patches on the knees of jeans (Not soul people, 'normal people!') - I suppose I was at that hieght at the time! All the best, Len.
  5. lol - Ain't it funny? - Some of the tunes I absolutely love ('Lenny Lullabies') some people absolutely hate! The difference in people's tastes has always amazed me, I find it quite interesting as I just can't imagine anyone not liking stuff that I do and that goes the other way of course. I do like the 'banter' / p*ss taking as long as it's done with wit and not offensively. No one should take offence if someone's taste is different; I have seen that happen though which is a shame. Oops, completely 'off topic' now - Apologies. Right, I'll take your advise mate - Off I go to Sony All the best, Len.
  6. About 2p to me mate, as long as I could sell at a profit! (Each to his own, I know...) All the best, Len.
  7. GOOD LUCK STEVE SCOTNEY!!! All the best, Len
  8. Lovely, not heard it either. The Doug Banks version that Tony mentioned is the other side to 'I Just Kept On Dancing' All the best, Len.
  9. Yes, it's strange isn't it? I suppose it's similar to when money becomes the issue. Money and records (Separately) can expose awful behaviour in some people (Not me I hasten to add!) All the best, Len. P.s - Sorry if this is going 'off topic' a little but it is interesting.
  10. So true...Blimey that could be 'One hell of a' separate thread couldn't it? Title... "Being Blinded by Vinyl" ...Subtitle - 'When Friends Have Let You Down'...We think we have seen threads go nasty, this one could be a corker! he he. Just things like giving friends your wants list, they buy records off it not known to them, have a 'check' / listen then 'secretly' keep the b*stard for themselves! - Yes you're so right, when it comes to Vinyl; sometimes 'Honour' is straight out of the window.....But not for my good friend Dave Vanner! All the best, Len.
  11. Hi Ted, I recon you just got the better deal - Andy Fisher is absolutely awesome and not heard out enough!.....Though, "I'm not like other guys"... Hope that makes you feel better mate All the best, Len.
  12. Ooops - Sorry, my last 'Story' was 'Buying - Hooray!' rather than 'Doh - Why did I sell that?!' - Just pretend Keith posted it, then it's the 'right way round' for the thread! Len.
  13. Another one - Kinda funny in hindsight, to show you just can never tell! I'm pretty sure it was again, the late 80's, I remember worrying that Keith (yes you Keith!) may be getting a bit too good a deal when you offered me a trade. I wanted to buy Otis Lee - Hard Row To Hoe - Quaint, off one of your sales tapes and you offered me this trade - 'Otis Lee for Joanie Sommers - Don't Pity Me - Warner Brothers plus £70.00'...I actually rang Pat Brady to check if he thought it was a fair deal! - Thanks to Pat, the deal was completed! lol ...Keith, I'm sure you may have completely forgotten that one, Carl Fortnum informs me it was probably the same week that John Anderson had just got a few as Gary Spencer got it just before me (Carl probably also had one knowing him!) I didn't realise I was playing a 'Newie' at the time lol. (Maybe I'll buy you a 'Long over due' drink next time I see you Keith) All the best, Len.
  14. ....I was waiting for that one! You may want to explain that for the benefit of others..."I think I'm gonna need me Twinkle Little Star, considering the crowd, I recon I've had it if someone else plays that tonight!" All the best, Len.
  15. I think a few know this story but for the benefit of those who don't - In the late 80's I was given a handful of records and amongst them was The Parisians - Twinkle Little Star - Demon Hot. Now, at the time I liked it and tried playing it out at a local place I used to run but I couldn't help but wonder if the lyrics were cool or not! Anyway a few years later I ended up selling some records to Dave Vanner and I let him have it for £2.00 - Yep £2.00! As soon as I sold it I regretted it as I'd had it a while and don't normally sell any. Anyway about a week later I asked if I could buy it back but he wanted to keep it, which was no problem and there was no animosity. I asked again every so often and two years later, which by then it was going well up in price, my good friend Dave sold it back to me for....£2.00! C/w a big smile on his face saying... "Lenny, let that be a lesson to you, never sell ya records!"... Because of that I haven't really unless 'needs must' things like having to feed the kids etc. So at least a happy ending, it's the type of record I need as it's now a good 'back up' if my set goes a bit rocky (Yep, it's used quite often!) lol All the best, Len.
  16. I agree, more so if anything and that 'sound' becomes associated with a certain place because that person D.Jed there... Have I just stated the ble*ding obvious? - Sorry, I'm havin'g a bit of a 'Dumb Day' today. All the best, Len.
  17. Doh! - Missed it to. If poss can someone put a link on this thread to it? Len.
  18. Great record - Yep, defo a 'Tape Swappers' fave - That's how I came across it as missed the era when it would have been 'played out' All the best, Len.
  19. Go careful Win or before you know it, you'll be back on the 'Northern Soul Merry Go Round'! - Remember, one ride takes 10 years! lol All the best, Len.
  20. Marion Love - I Can't Forget About You Baby - Ab'soul'utely awesome - I hope yule all agree 100 % Len.
  21. Don't be a 'Scaredy Cat' He He , I would have danced if I was there. Try 'Splicing' it in after something like Marion Stewart - I Must Be Losing You....No one will notice (Honest!) All the best, Len. P.S - If D.Jing was easy, everyone would be doing it...Hang on? - They are! - Now that's confusing! :O)
  22. P.s - Yes you could / SHOULD! play Ella Woods at nighters - It's a beautiful dance track! Len.
  23. A few nice bits on there, thanks Ian. In my oppiniun a very good D.J, he comes across very well and is obviously a soul music fan through and through - Can't knock it even if not all the tunes are to my taste. All the best, Len.
  24. Yep, See you all Tomorrow evening. Len.
  25. Hiya Dolly, Twas great to see you at Burnley the other week, you got plenty of friends around you on the scene (Maybe you just need reminding) I and many others won't be able to comprehend what you have been through - Getting through, dealing with or coming to terms with any trauma takes a very long time. G*d I'm a sad case being on line at this time of the morning! - I've got 'P.E.T' (Pre Event Tension) lol, well that and a bl*dy house alarm going off in our street - Grrrr! We have a house full tonight and a big event at Rushden with Soul Sam guesting - Looking forward to it though. Busy day ahead for Nina and I, getting the kids off to sitters, sorting the house out etc etc (Why are kids so blo*dy untidy?!) Hey Dolly, don't do to many nighters mate, you may end up back on the 'Northern Soul Merry-Go-Round' I've been round twice, which was great but one ride takes 10 years! lol All the best, Len. P.s - Of course your not out of order!
