  1. Cheers Nev, Now that is a rare looking beast! If the vinyl is as clean as the label that seems good value at the price Regards.
  2. Pete Is that the Chess or the Alteen copies of Sunday? I got a very clean Alteen... Cheers.
  3. This one always seems to have had much Detroit love applied: Bonnie Brisker - Magic City Regards...
  4. Hello Mr Green, Don't know about my faves - I can never choose there's just too many. There are so many great tunes, so I've concentrated on male/male group vocal 60's Soul and I'm sure others can point you toward others genres i.e. female, crossover, 70's etc etc. So for you starting out, I've listed five tunes that are fantastic all time classics and are relatively cheap on original vinyl - there is no substitute for this format! BTW, you do realise that this scene is an addiction and alot more expensive than many so go careful and buy wisely NF Porter - Keep On Keeping On - LizardDells - Make Sure - CadetJimmy Robins - I Can't Please You - Jerhart Precisions - If This Is Love - DrewJimmy Holiday - New Breed - Diplomacy Regards...
  5. Anybody able to give some background on this obscure double-sider? It's the alternate take of Jimmy Robins Jerhart release 'I Can't Please You' with Roy Wright 'Hook Line & Sinker' on the flip. Any info appreciated. Thanks...
  6. There's one 'scene' that we seem to be forgetting... The place where the masses congregate to enjoy and share our music. They are the silent majority. This is the domain of the 'Soul Potato' in venues like the 'Front Room', 'Bedroom' and 'Spare Room'. The Soul Potato is a proud idler with many years - and beers - under his belt. God bless them all! "The condition of perfection is idleness: the aim of perfection is happiness."
  7. Hi Bought one recently for just over £65 in NM condition. I think £50 - £75 is about right for a clean example. Brilliant track btw. Regards...
  8. If it helps to identify this is the flip of Uniques - Every Now And Then (I Cry)...
  9. Maybe... I never was good with colours but there is a difference in the fonts (unless my eyesight is totally fekd) On the disc with the more yellow(y) looking label (the one with the 'custom' centre hole!) the deadwax carries no matrix stampings.. Any info on matrix stampings on any issue appreciated...
  10. Can anybody shed more light on this record. I've come across it in three different different label colours and differing fonts (see scans) Are they all legit issues? Any info on deadwax details would be great. Cheers...
  11. Right now... Betty(e) Lavette. Versatlie; soulful, funky and beautiful...
  12. Can anyone help with a sound clip for The Uniques - Love Is A Precious Thing - Paula 275 Thanks in advance...
  13. Hi, As mentioned above this is a Mecca record (I think a late play?) on Zanzee 112 that seems to be picking up some renewed interest. The price of £25 sounds about right but it has gone for more (seen it go for $90 ish!) and definitely good value at £3! Great record btw..

  18. Don't think it will be a Boot. Came out twice... on Canyon 1000 and Maple 1000. Was an old Bradford spin of mine. The guy I bought it off was raving about the "Taking All The Love I Can" side. Turned it over and found this moody, atmospheric, group beauty on the flip. Smashing tune! Sean
  19. Hello, THE CHOSEN FEW / BIRTH OF A PLAYBOY / MAPLE 1000 Has this been booted/counterfeited? Can't see any info to suggest so in any of the 'books'. Looking at one currently that looks very clean - perhaps too clean. Thanks in advance...
  20. Hi Minit, It's easyish to create a simple spreadsheet with all the fields you need (artist, label, value, notes etc) then either sort the data using a simple 'data sort' or to get better reports - of say all artists on a particular label - by using the lookup and pivot table functions in excel. There is a simple template available for MS Access called 'Music Collection Database' available for free download from the MS Office templates site, which you could then add to as necessary. If you haven't got excel or access you can use OpenOffice equivalents for free. Looked into the custom applications and there seems to be a few good options if you're not that computer savvy. They are: Audiophiler Music Organizer (Author: audiophiler.com) [30-day Trial] $29.95 CATraxx (Author: fnprg.com) [30-day Trial] $39.95 Music Label 2009 15.1 (Author: codeaero.com) [14-day Trial] $49.95 - $69.95 All come with a trial so you can check which works best for you. Regards...
