Tonite - Northern Soul Bbc Living For The Weekend
Reg Scott replied to Mike's topic in All About the SOUL
Regardless of his actual involvement, I found one of the best sound bites came from Norman Jay when he described the records being played such: "what appeals is the honesty and integrity and the truth.." Bang on comment for me.. -
And although very good and rare the Barbara King has been re issued (Fryers)
-
The Variations, Soul Twins Jesse Fisher and Sonny Til going up but have to agree Kev the Ricky Allen stands out - I prefer the issue on AGE but not rare enough I suppose (controversial )
-
The only store worth visting for original vinyl is the Record Store (featured first in the movie and also the most long standing)they do have boxes of soul 45's but you'ok be lucky to catch a rare one, but all in all worth a look.

Wasn't referring to the one being sold Pete - just the fact that I have an eye for the lovely Stateside demo both green and red..

Is there anything more beautiful than a Stateside demo - I do not think so and I don't collect British - yummy 45's

The Rotations- I Keep Searching In Vain No Piano Design Label
Reg Scott replied to Davidbrls's topic in Look At Your Box
In general I believe the issue without the piano is considered more scarce. The record with or without the piano has not been booted to my knowledge and the probability is that the pressing plant simply put out a run with more label templates with a piano than without as supplied from the studios... -
Chesters pub, with Annie B et al was after we went to the the Talbot SC with Phil, Chris and other 50cc young crew, the main do's so to speak then was the tail end of Stafford, the Bear Pitt in castle and the Roxy Roller in Hanley. BTW the only nice bit officially in Stoke (but castle council for some reason) is God's own country of Mow Cop.. an if you're reading this Mr Trout, Bugglawton is no country for the older gentlemen now if the Chronicle is to be believed - murder capital of cheshire now :-) It would be nice to see a night in the cultural centre of our fair city, the Mother Town, Burslem birth place of only the finest BTW Mace, I think you would of known Shute at the time if it's the Shute who was a 'friend' of Di Green and Trout you would probaby have known Duncan P as he did go to the late Wigan but more of a Stafford regular.. Finally, only just fkin realised this a ten year old OP - I could of trimmed me nose hair instead..

Unissued - Ike Perry & The Lyrics On Ebay
Reg Scott replied to Reg Scott's topic in Look At Your Box
Big price Phil - again it was track 1 that was of interest.. -
This could well be a post in itself but in relation to the OP: The prices gained in the real world whether on Ebay or other markets are increasingly making 'the book price' look ridiculous and utterly out of touch. The vast majority of 'lower end' pieces, regardless of the quality of the 45, are fetching a fraction of the book price even in clean condition. This may well be because of a glut of lower end items available or a lack of interest in them from the 'market' or little of both. Regardless, the bigger dealers sites still leave the lower end priced items at or even above book price to catch the odd ill-informed fish. Then paradoxically, the high-end items, whether 'hard' classics in clean condition or 'in-demand' items fetch higher than 'book' prices. This high-end market would seem to be dominated by a relatively small group of collectors and DJ's with the money to pursue these items. C'est la vie

Unissued - Ike Perry & The Lyrics On Ebay
Reg Scott replied to Reg Scott's topic in Look At Your Box
The first track sounds more late 60's so it's interesting to know that it's a 70's recording.. -

Mick's beat me to it Rob. I quite like the first track and I could see it being 'played out' -
Anybody got any info or knowledge on this one? I know the band were a doo wop / R&B band but I mean info specifically about the acetate track 1 Cheers.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Unreleased-Northern-Soul-Acetate-45-IKE-PERRY-THE-LYRICS-HEAR-VG-/380922579865?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item58b0c14b99
