  5. Although "WHEN THE GAME IS PLAYED ON YOU" didn't chart how rare can it be? How many Atlantic issues have remained above 100 squid and what is the likelihood of a box of these 'turning up' .. Given the quality of the tune it should fetch at least as 'KISS MY LOVE GOODBYE" regardless..
  6. I thought this was about 40 - 60 squid! The H Andrews tunes keep on rising it seems..

  10. Absolutely spot on.. Just cause it's only on the issue blah blah doesn't do feck all for me especially at these prices.. 25 quid as collection filler
  11. Exactly what I was alluding to above that Godin distinguishes between the 'scene' in the South (London specifically) and that in the North and the term is 'derived' from that..
  12. Such an easy guy to deal with and a really nice bloke.. RIP Rick

  14. I think the key point is where Godin distinguishes between the 'scene' in the South (London specifically) and that in the North. So the term Northern Soul could be argued to be a derivation of that in the popular imagination and vernacular.. In print, as far as I know, Godin lays claim to uttering the term in the Chris Hunt Mojo interview 2002 and on film here: SO, for completeness I would really appreciate help in 1. A scan of the Mojo interview with Dave Godin from 2002 and 2. Attribution and dates for the above video Thanks again..
  15. That's the one .. If you have part 2 and can scan the magazine front covers that would be great..
  16. My lad needs this for his Uni dissertation so help appreciated.. Requesting a good quality scan of 'the' Dave Godin article from Godin's weekly column in Blues & Soul magazine in June 1970 referencing the term 'Northern Soul'. A scan of the front cover would also be great. Thanks in advance..
  17. Was this an anomaly ?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TWENTY-DOLLAR-FRIENDSHIP-Detroit-Northern-soul-45-on-CAREER-WORLD-HEAR-IT-/190654334921?nma=true&si=nwiUPL5hvFFa1lFmjnosOByb4B4%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

  20. Thanks for the clarification Pete. I felt if people weren't aware that DW had the rights to the Hopkins Brothers, was involved with Soul Junction and had produced the legal reissue that the post by Perux was unclear and could be misconstrued or misunderstood. In no way was I implying Dave was involved with carvers himself simply looking for a clarification from the seller of these carvers..
  21. Am I reading this right "..I have spoken to the tracks owners Dave Welding and all is fine.." So is DW the DJ the carvers were bought from or DW is the owner of these blank unknown discs that have turned out be of some very rare and expensive records and the DJ they were purchased from is anonymous. Very confusing state of affairs at any rate..
  22. Go on Dave, show us ya JA setup - please. Either on here or feel free to pm Best, Greg.
  23. If you are playing older records in less than minty condition the audiophile decks, belt driven or not, will highlight any and all imperfections. The above suggestion from Quinvy is generally accepted as the best deck / cartridge to get the best sound and least ware from the typical vinyl/styrene played by vintage collectors. The eventual sound of any system will depend on the combination of the components and how they work together, additionally, cost will play it's part as well aesthetics and space. As the OP was specific in requiring a small setup for the room then a 1210 with a good cartridge, a pre-amp or mixer connedted to an amplifier/speaker combination (such as the BOSE type) would seem to fit best. addendum - forgot to mention another option which would be to use a single deck with additional preamp such as the Technics 1210 or an even cleaner solution a deck with built in preamp (Audio Technica LP1240 - also solves your digital recording requirements) with a set of powered speakers. In this way only the deck and speakers are required reducing space requirements and minimizing cabling.
