  2. no comparison to how the "scene" was twelve years ago IMO. however, from a German - Berlin in particular - point of view it became completely inflationary.
  3. SO ABSOLUETLY SECONDED. IF ANYTHING THE BOOTLEGGERS KILLED THE WHOLE R&B SCENE. DISGUSTING.
  4. makes u wonder somehow, 1. if a artist gets some air time on television surely she must have had some kinda name already (all the other artists were established and widely known acts of the time) plus 2. the company will have had already made sure that there will be enough copies at distributors and shops to meet demand created by the telly appearance. it sure wasnt released in any of the so often quoted 250, 500 copies only runs... I am sure there either has been huge quantity of this record been dumped ages ago already or there is still quantity of this tune lurking somewhere waiting to be found..
  5. so did you pay more or less ;) ?
  6. out of interest wasnt there already a re-release ?
  7. Hi Jason, in case it is the Richard Stoute 45 you are holding, I know someone who is seriously interested in buying this straight off you ;)
  8. Hi, I decided to let these two go EJ Rush "Hole In Your Sole / Stick Tight To Me" COOKING, M- cond., fabulous doublesider that thanks to dig deeper NYC we know now is none else but Paul Sindab. It was a popular Hip City spin some six/seven years ago and rightly so, they dont come much better and rarer. 1900 USD Black Conspirators "Just Got To Be Fre / L-O-V-E" GET DOWN, M- cond., fabulous doublesider, one side ace funky driving upfront uptempo, the other side as much indemand than the topside: Sweet Soul Rola of the highest order. Hip City spin of mine in recent months. Rare in the extreme. 1000 USD SOLD

  9. Herb Ward at 830 USD takes some beating..LOL Not in the list but also thru Barbara King / Gulfstream at a give a way price of only 3550 USD.
  10. "...no play in Chicago but it did in St Louis then if anything if they did press any in St Louis it would be a second press.." spot on el corol, it always did my head in too to be honest!
  11. The Salvadors where originally from St.Louis and did local backing at the Riviera nightclub there for Soul acts when they were in town, E. Rodney Jones was a local radio legend there before he went on to bigger things in 1965 at WVON in Chicago, after he had brought the Salvadors over to record their first record in Chicago (Nike) he brought them to Jo Armstead to record again this time SBMB on Wise World. I think the second press was done (local) for local sales in their homebase St.Louis, at least the rarer press is often talked about as the "St. Louis press". Props to Boba for his great radio interview with one remaining member of the Salvadors back in the day. RIP.

  17. Charles I V Doctor Love C/w The Girl Next Door Let’s get serious.. The chance to own an unissued Capitol Acetate of staggering proportions. Danny Brantley guided Northern Soul of the highest calibre.. Listen and prepare to be amazed.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,433.00 A year or two ago I won the exact same tune via John on a acetate credited to Charles Smith at sth. like 250 GBP...nice increase in value.. !
  18. just in from a night out, checked on fb, couldnt believe it and am now so sad to find out this tragic is real.. lost for words really. dont remember which year bob joined soul source but since he had joined this place really became more informative and worthwhile for sure. as mike so rightly said - bob was a major part of this site. always had the the deepest respect for his knowledge, his help on infos and vinyl and liked his individual style big style. he sure wont be forgotten ever. whereever u are bob, be sure to turn up the volume loud - I know you will. If the gone greats of our music have a table up there I am sure they will be happy to welcome you there amongst their company. so so unreal, unfair and just not to be understood. RIP Bob
