  1. didnt JM once auctioned the orig Studio Acetate of the new wanderers ? Think it made significantly under 2K..also somehow seem to remember that the other great side "Aint Gonna Do You No Harm" was missing which may explain the "low" price ?
  2. seconded, although one must admit bearing in mind todays market this one has still some potential (pricewise). Had it on one of Gary Spencers play list tapes from 1989 and couldnt believe my luck when I finally got Shiftys old copy some good 10 - 12 years ago. Beautiful record.
  3. I doubt Milton bought the rights off Ollie. If he has them he will aways have had them, meaning hes been the owner since recording these tunes.. He complains bout not having received any royalties so I believe he is on about said release ? Being a judge he will have known that making a claim like this in public without being in the right to do so would be at least useless...if not already against the law. If John paid royalties to Ollie he will have thought to release a proper record. All in good faith I understand. Maybe even Ollie thought he had teh rights, again in good faith. Still, it would make it nothing else but a bootleg. If of course Milton owns the rights.
  4. So I understand Milton Wright correct, he never received any royalties for these tunes which he owns the rights to ? If thats the case the record in question surely is a bootleg ? And given the recent auction result surely the most expensive ever ? Almost more importantly..,if this is a bootleg and gets played at ususally OVO venues... ah, I better stop it now.
  5. to save you all your time searching the whole thread....it made 8284 GBP. So bearing in mind the crazy Prices some classics fetch these daysI wonder what this copy will end at. My guess is10K.
  6. cautions and troy dodds ... unbelievable. think the last 110 copies of the cautions that went thru were all under or at 1000GBP tops.
  7. Two thru ebay, one only showing via popsike though. Which is the one we both traded Nev. Have you got a link to the one you noticed being for sale on here, seems as if I am too stupid to find it via the search tool myself ? Never heard Mark Dobson playing this out.
  8. "Funny" story about the one that was on ebay a few years ago...guy and I agreed on a buy it now at a fixed fair price, off he went to change the settings on his listing, texted me when he was ready, before I could log onto ebay a certain fella going by the name Nev bought it. Strange world of Rare Soul collecting or should I say trading but this exact copy then finally did find its way to me via one trade. It will stay here forever as far as I am concerned. Think Kevin lifted his file off one ebay listing but do know one other collector in the uk who has it. Wont name him though as I dont think he would like to read his name here in this context.
  9. Groovettes "Think It Over Baby" Reness M- (small XOL most copies seem to have, havent they ?) 1000 GBP, bank transfer or paypal (buyer pays fees), thanks !
  10. ...deadline tomorrow 1 am UK time. As that question came up: The acetate is complete vinyl, no metal..
  11. Continuing with my acetate sales from earlier this and end of last year here comes a once in a lifetime chance to obtain a mega rarity in its rarest and dearest format: Up for sale is the ridiculous rare only known acetate of Eddie Campbells oh so soulful Phoenix rarity "Contagious Love" (Artco). Please see attached picture, the acetate is in wonderful condition. No distortion etc. I will grade the vinyl ex- but will add to this that the sound is TOP NOTCH ! I`ll take offers on this till sunday noon starting with 1500 USD. Buyer to pay paypal fees or bank transfer. Thanks for looking!
  12. Dont want to proove you wrong mate, just think/thought the 45 was earlier. Great write up !
  13. That would explain it, cheers Ady!
  14. Both MFP and TMG were EMI owned labels. Motown had last word in which label was about to release whatever title. I really think the 7" was earlier, first because of the date (02/74) and second because no record company would re-release a tune already been used on your budget imprint (MFP) on your "prime" label (TMG). Usually its the other way round.
  15. Both, LP and single were released by Tamla Motown UK.
  16. Both are from 1974, but the single release on TMG dates from February 1974 and doesnt mention the LP (..."Taken from"). So thers a good chance it predates the LP. Still theres a possibility of course the LP was released during the cold month of January..
  17. Joe Matthews...possibly a grand in vg+. hopefully no cue burn though as its styrene only.
  18. "Billy Gordon was soon in trouble with the law and replaced by Joe Stubbs but not before the group had laid down "Baby Hit And Run". Previously unreleased but saw the light of day in the UK on a MFP LP (with Dennis Edwards lead dubbed in) and became a huge dance floor favourite on the UK Northern Soul scene." It was originally released in 1974 on 7" as TMG 886
  19. The "SOUL" label stamp gives it away...I got some and can testify that Motown test pressings never showed any kind of label informations. Why should they, they were done for the board to decide wether to release or not release. No one would have knownn at that stage (test press) which particular Motown label imprint the tune would later be released on..
  20. It was a huge (indeed it was) Hip City spin for me in the mid nineties and I remember the first time I played it at the fabulous Hideaway Club and several people did not know it (but loved it). I got all the starmaker 45s except for 5001 and wouldnt mind a copy please. The Freddy Butler does sound like a version of "I Keep Forgetting", great record as Alan says. The Deans and Caravelles are early Group records, The Caravelles still showing their DooWop roots. Taylor Tones is nice also but not as good as their effort on CJ.
  21. Would have thought its the going rate...2900 made me almost spill my soda drink last night. Really amazed me.. and almost tempted me to sell mine. Freddy Butler though indeed very cheap IMHO. Fabulous and really rare record, in fact the third rarest on Wheelsville.
  22. Now this is really mediocre. What makes people shell out this kinda money for it I dont know....and wont like to know LOL. Jax Authority thopugh...now thats a complete different story, fabulous record, fresh tune and all that. Like it.
  23. My old copy ! Must admit it was one of them sales I regretted for a long time...it took me what felt like ages to find a new copy. Love it!
