  1. cheers Benji, appreciated. The Mel Jackson indeed is quite a weak 45. As I said, the best thing about the whole record seems to be the picture cover.
  2. awesome Ralf, thanks for sharing ! While searching for the label and the people runnning it I came across two more Soul 45s on the label. The Soul Sisters and Mel Jackson. The best thing about the Mel Jackson is the picture cover though. The Soul Sisters were a nice girl group doing cover versions. The former label owner exlained to me that these girls in fact were from the UK and tried to make a living in the 6ts by playing the GI nightclubs in southern west germany. John Harris & The Soul Sayers were a band consisting of GI`s from the Heidelberg base. They too made a extra buck by playing all the American nightclubs in Southern West Germany. When asked how this record ("Hanging In") came about the former label owner told me that John Harris one day came to him and aksed him to press 250 copies of this record. Because "Hanging In" was the tune that was most well received by their audience they -the band- thought it would make sense to press it up and try to sell the copies at their gigs. After John Harris came to pay for the stock and took it with him the label owner never ever again heard of him. Asked what year that was he told me 64. I doubt this somehow..to me it sounds definitely more like 66/67.. Back then Germans were not allowed in those nightclubs which might explain why all of the so far four known copies were found in the US. What a great record indeed. Marc
  3. yes "bring me my coffe in the morning"
  4. and at the HipCity...as did Tim Brown the same year.
  5. must say..I love this 45..for its flipsde. awesome IMO. at that price a steal.
  6. good job ...see you on saturday buddy !
  7. my pleasure sir
  8. I could stick one copy in with your other recent buy ?
  9. did a quick search for my old copy as I was fearing...well, but thankfully it was where it should be LOL ! Anyway, next 45 in line after this beauty is another one I used to play back then alongside Debonaires...maybe also right for re-animation...the right kind "right kinda guy" on galaxy. Couldn`t find it on youtube or resoul so I have to post a link to JM site https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/search/Artist/RIGHT%2BKIND/all/1
  10. bargain of the year...so far quite possibly.
  11. thanks for posting this and the Hell`s record!
  12. Debonaires on Galaxy have already been quite sucessful on Berlin dancefloors a couple of yeras ago. almost as sucessful as the Roy Roberty on Linco currently is. Both fab 45s with the Linco record being absolutely ace! Bought it blind and never ever did I regret it.
  13. Oh, so you were that one listener LOL ! cheers mate, hope you find a reasonable copy soon
  14. must have missed these two then, sorry. But then again I wasnt checking ebay as much lately as I used to do before...thats why I added "that I witnessed" to my statement. Maybe it is soon down again to the 25 UKP price tag it was wearing before the demand started to grow two years ago, who knows.
  15. the last two I witnessed being advertised and sold went for 200 and 220 USD.
  16. I can see where you see the similarity in the two songs....but...and I know may get crucified for saying so....I must say Anita Harris is really a awful bad record. Would I have to decide I would prefer Nella Mann any time of the day
  17. played by my buddy Mario Montgomery at our new years eve weekender here in Berlin....didnt know he is that much upfront nice tune indeed and the first time I heard it...my very first guess of course was that it is by Phyllis Dillon. Such a unique & great voice !
  18. or unless there do exist two releases with different flipsides I`ll see how I can get a scan organized , atb Marc
  19. really, I thought he plays the bass in Amy winehouse backing band now (not a joke and not on the sauce LOL) marc
  20. hi Benji, before the demand from the Soul scene grew it was sold for next to nth. The flipside of the first release is sung in German. Even the title is German "wundersch¶n" it is called or sth like that... this, the first release, was released on Trojan subsidary Bread Records.
  21. it was regular 45 in my sets between 2007 and 2010. Sold it for sth. like 500 UKP earlier last year. would agree with Chalk though. Definitely the hardest on the whole label..
  22. Didn`t knew the Carlettes were his daughters but did know that he was producing Hip Hop in the late seventies/early eighties...being already 60/70 years of age. what a character!
  23. Rest in peace Mr Robinson. What an important figur in R&B he was...
  24. what a loss and what sad way indeed to start the new year and this day. was hoping it was just a rumour.. what a artists, what a loss!
