  1. you are spot on. I traded my mint minus original about four years ago at 500 UKP. A good price at the time but have I had any chance to buy it back ever since ? No.
  2. agree mate, reason why I sold my copy years ago.
  3. right, but if memory serves me correct the tapes came from the producer so there was / is a chance contact could have been made to negotiate. Didn`t see a second tape though. Would love to hear the other versions..hence me asking Marc
  4. Out of interest, this one had been known for quite some time, it was / is just only s**t rare isn`t it ? Did sound top notch though when Butch played it at the Hip City last summer! Has anyone ever again heard anything about the whereabouts of the reel master tape which contained unreleased takes of this record ? Curious to know what happend to this and wether one day those takes will appear on a new release ... ?
  5. actually I was only aware of all the copies that came thru Dave...Knew (from Dave) you had one too but always thought yours did like the others also come via Dave. But this your record find story is brilliant I must admit! Just imagining now the look on your face the moment you found the record while going thru a box. ...and it leaves a little bit of hope that there ar still (more) copies around waiting to be found.
  6. always thougt the LEO to be the first release ? At least my leo copy has autographs of the band members so maybe thats the reason I always thought it to be a first issue. Great little record like you say.
  7. Don`t we just love to keep track with rare records: Personally I know the names of two lucky UK Soulies who own a copy, one a collector the other a DJ. Plus the copy Kitch has. Plus the two copies that gone thru ebay lately which seem to have gone to the UK as well (and cant have gone to one of the two aforementioned collectors/DJ´s as its too short a time since they have been auctioned..) Plus one copy in Norway Plus one copy in Germany Makes it seven copies so far... Marc
  8. Only one to be found on popsike. In VG only condition....still 643 USD.
  9. I was very confused myself to see the Paradox release being mentioned in this thread as any kind of an possible alternative...that release is so "paradoxly" rare and stuck like glue in deep soul collections. I cant remember ever seeing one for sale. The price would be at least double the price of a Volt copy I guess.. Charlene on Volt always been a tough one as a doublesided issue..just like Paul Thompson. It did not help to see a recent price hike thru heavy rotation by his majesty Mr Dobson I guess. Great record and I agree with you John, fabulous deep flip ! Knowing how hard he wants one and that it wouzld be in a good home I vote for a cheap copy being offered to JAN NOW !
  10. its easy Henning, just buy against the demand...a bit like taking part on the stock market really. easier said than done though, I know
  11. great call indeed Ady, first thing today morning for me was to forward Dave Thorleys initial posting to our 1800 Soul-friends on facebook.
  12. MC H...really like that LOL !
  13. On re-reading that maybe should better read "...was able to follow..." LOL !
  14. you get a bit of feedback for their brilliant Berlin concert here although its neither telling you that the KGF guys hang around the nearly sold out place till about almost 5 am in the morning to party with us lot and that indeed they dedicated a wonderful version of Ellipsis "People" to one very well known English Rare Soul DJ who happened to celebrate his 46th birthday that night ...nor does it tell you the fact that they almost hired a brand new master of ceremonies / moderator in the person of one other again very well known English Rare Soul DJ who managed to climb up the stage several times to give us some brilliant announcements LOL ! Fabulous.... I was aksed to play some tunes after the show and took about 30 45s with me...as no one wanted to follow me with deejaiyng I ended up with playing nearly every single one of them twice LOL!
  15. my spare copy of Ben Martin "Tschigge - Tschagge - Tschonga" you can have...for free LOL !
  16. a shame the kerston numbering system seems to be all over the place...still, their 1966 release by the Strangers carries 60039. So John Harris with 60050 ain`t too far away. Seems we are both right with our estimation 66/67.
