Yes, teh very same seller. GUess you are right with your explanation but what would you reckon a "true" value on this record..say if you would be selling it and needed to put a price on ? There`s been a very in depth discography in one of the old Shades Of Soul issues...very informative, think it came via Shane Cox ? Still some numbers were missing, like this Delola Carmichael, Doug & Dave and the Intensions doublesider for example (all three awesome records by the way). Havent checked with Dave Rimmer´s good site, he might have a discography on USA as well by now ? And you are right, the USA label doesnt only have one of the best label designs (IMO), it sure also ranks high within my favourite labels for its musical output.

If you know the buyers ebay short identification, for example r***l (1234), you know the bidders real identity as long as he keeps his ebay name and is not opening a new account. But not a big deal at all..shouldn`t have mnentioned who won it anyway maybe LOL ! Lets just say there has only been that one copy on ebay to my knowledge..

What is the going rate of an original of Gwen & Ray please, I was amazed to see it finishing yesterday at only 600 sth GBP ? Thought it will end much higher ? I know there`s been a couple thrue ebay lately at under 500 USD but I the way I understood it was that it wasn`t quite clear if these were originals ? Speaking of Manship...he has a really nice and indeed very rare 45 currently up there in the shape of Delola Carmichael on USA...a current Hip City spin if I dare to say so and only the third copy I ever saw. The other copy I got recently outbid on ebay by Honky. Great doiuble-sider.. and no, I am not the owner of said copy at Manship`s ;)

maybe indeed its two seperate worlds...the vinyl and the virtual world. For example I dont think the widely available soundfiles and youtube links of say The Ravins hasnt done any (sales) harm to the current Kent 45...maybe even quite the opposite it may have created interest in said song ? But thats onyl how one vinyl-collector may look at it..a judge or a jury may see this again totally different ?

never thought about it, but I think that is not only a very good point raised but also one that definitely needs to be talked about indeed. when I post sth for example on facebook I always only post files I or a guest DJ has the record of (in order to promote the next allnighter)...BUT...just what if you have a file of one song that you also have the original 45 of ...then sell the 45..still keep the file though...to be 100% sober you would have to delete the file, wouldnt you ? Isnt it also illegal music distribution when you post file(s) of your own records on the internet where 1000s of other people can and will listen to it even quite possibly download it on their own home computer ?

Tac-Ful was part-owned by Roosevelt Grier (hence the football link), wasn`t it ? His business partner started Radio City when he left Tac-Ful and moved to California. Thats at least how I remember the background... which is also the flip on my rouser copy. raritywise the tiny release comes first, "ain`t no bragg" / rouser ws thought to be rarer as "Chick Chick" / rouser. First heard it via Capitol Soul Club around 2000...still have the clupbtape from back then with said tune on it. been playing it at the Hip City back then as well. top 45!

cheers Karen, good 45 and you can easily pick it up on ebay for a around 40 USD. As has already been said, a lot of venues play sounds like this these days. The record in question I must admit doesnt sound any good played out loud at a big room event. Have it myself , never ever played it out, then I heard it last year at the Hamburg Soul Weeekender boat trip (maybe John Weston or Brett Franklin playing it?) and it sounded brilliant, next time I heard it played out was at the European Manchester Soul Weekender and it didnt do anything (not only not for me)...a case of "play at home only" maybe just like that ace Nancy Lee 45 "No Words For Love" MoDo. Awesome record too but sounds dreadful via loud speakers... Is it just me ?

Its been an "old hat" on the German R&B / Mod scene and had heavy plays up here middle to end of the nineties. Cool record but a bit over-hyped now ?

The Pervis Herder on Crow is looked for by some already...maybe the bext big thing on Crow.

understand what you mean and apreciate it, must say though that with some being regular punters for a period over 21 years and of course attening other venues too they are not that blank anymore.. furthermore I have to admit that not everybody is totally happy with the funkier tunes..some prefer the more traditional sounds. still they dont moan and accept these tunes as they simply relax and wait for the next more appropriate tune

Top post Brett ! Explains and says it all. Some are jut not able/dont like to accept that and for that reason go down the bootleg road. There are also loads of tourists who buy fake rolex and "bozz" suits in turkey every year ....

yes, some of the "funkier" tunes are well received by our punters over here. Not so much the local brew the cause though as except for Becks and Budweiser (which are not local brews) they only serve Irish and Engllish brews at the Oscar Wilde...it seems to be more a case of them being indeed willing to accept the one or two new tunes being aired without geting (too) annoyed Thankfully.

Must admit it sounded fantastic played out loud ...and was very well received when I played it at the last Hip City. Top tune

dont know if its widely known but another very nice aspect about eli is the fact that he also collects Soul, mainly Deep. When I had the pleasure to be the support DJ at his first Berlin gig he was hanging around the decks before and after the concert and we talked about this and that 45 (you know the stuff, sth like, oh yeah that is a goodie, I have that too, never seen this etc.) good fun
